I.  Adaptation of Terrestrial animals.

3. Monkeys have long, strong and curly tails.Give reason

Ans. Monkeys are arboreal animals.Their long, strong and curly tails help them to swing from the branches of trees.

4.How does the cuttle fish protect itself from enemies?

Ans. The cuttle fish has an ink sac on its body. When it senses danger, it releases the ink, making the water blue. The enemy is unable to see anything and the fish swims away to safety.

Ruminants are animals that eat the same food twice.

7.Compare herbivores and carnivores.

Herbivores / carnivores
Plant eating animals / Flesh eating animals
They have sharp front teeth to bite and cut the grass and plants. / They have sharp pointed teeth called canines to tear the flesh.
They also have flat, broad and strong teeth at the back to chew their food / They also have flat premolars and molars to chew the flesh.
Ex.cow, zebra,giraffe / Lion,tiger

9.Food chains

Arrange the food chain in the correct order.

Producer: Plants are called producers( they make their own food) and animals are called consumers

1.  hawk, grass, snake, toad, grass hopper

2.  plankton ,large fish, small fish, seal, bear

3.  grass,lion,deer

10. Scavengers: Animals that feed on dead animals and keep the environment clean.

Ex. Vulture,hyena

Parasites: Parasites are the animals that live either on or inside the bodies of other animals to obtain food.

Ex. Fleas,leech,tapeworm,mosquitoes,lice.

Adaptations for protection

1.

Elephants, hippopotamuses / Thick skin, too big to be eaten
Deer, kangaroo / Strong legs to run fast
Polar bear,zebra,stick insect,chameleons / camouflage
Porcupines / Spines
Crabs,turtles / Shells
Lion, tiger, leopard / Strong legs and claws.Sharp teeth to tear flesh
Bees and wasps / Strings( poison)
