Research erosion and weathering and develop a pamphlet/handout to make the factors and forces of weathering and erosion understandable to the Planning and Development Department of council looking at at area to subdivide for industrial use.
Background Information
The earth is in a constant struggle with itself as natural forces build it up and break it down. Erosion and weathering are all around us. Even though you may not recognize it the forces of erosion and weathering are constantly shaping the earth.
Process
The main question is, how do the facts about erosion and weathering play a part in the decisions to be made about new developments?
1. You will have the role of a Geologist working for council
2. Use the resource links below to find out about weathering and erosion.
3. Take notes on the note taking page supplied, also answering the questions.
4. After you have become an expert, you will work in a pair to create either an information pamphlet or booklet.
Pamphlet
A pamphlet is usually a full piece of paper that has been folded into three sections on which information is presented. You can use Microsoft Publisher to create your pamphlet.
Your teacher will show you a quick "how-to" before you begin.
Booklet
You also have the option of creating a booklet made up of 4 half sheets (2 full sheets) of paper. This will contain all the required information in the form of a book so make sure you organize and title your pages.
