Book Report Options

The top of every book report must include the title, author and student heading.

This sheet MUST be turned in with report.

1.  Postcard (8/5 X11size)

·  20 points: on the top half of a sheet of paper include graphics that depict the main setting and main character(s) from the book

·  10 points: the caption underneath the picture should be a direct quote from the book describing the setting

·  45 points: on the bottom half write a letter to a friend as if you are a character from the book, explaining what has happened to you; be sure to include the main conflict and two main events – use semi block format

2.  Casting

·  assume the book is being made into a movie (if it really is a movie do not use the same actors/location) and you are the casting director to creatively create the following…

·  50 points: write about the (3-5) actors or people you would choose to star in the movie, explaining (6-8 sentences each) WHY each one would be perfect for the role

·  25 points: describe (6-8sentences) in detail exactly where the movie should be filmed and specifically WHY that location works well

3.  Interview

·  15 points: compose 6-8 interesting and important questions that reveal plot and character traits in a creative format to ask the main character

·  20 points: respond to the questions the way that your chosen character would and give insight into character traits revealed in the novel

·  20 points: answers should reveal important events of the book (plot - beginning, middle, and end need to be represented)

·  20 points: write a 6-8 sentence, descriptive paragraph that explains the character traits revealed

4.  Literary Elements

·  fold your large paper into 4 boxes and label them: Setting, Characters, Conflict, Climax and Resolution (this is ONE box)

·  30 points: create a colored, detailed illustration that represents the details of each element of your book

·  45 points: under each drawing write a 6-8 sentence description of why the specifics of the illustration represents that specific element

Grading: in addition to the points listed above there will be 20 points allotted for creativity/neatness and 5 points for formatting TOTAL=100 points
