Whilst beautiful, the snow and freezing conditions have caused disruption to the school this week – and for that I apologise. However, I am sure that you will understand that the decision to close the school is never taken lightly, and the health and safety of all pupils and staff is always the main consideration. The two day closure has meant that we have had to rearrange some of our end of term events. To avoid any confusion over the next three days, I have tried to summarise the important times and dates below …

School Opening

Both sites will be open tomorrow! However, please do take great care when coming to school, as it is likely that conditions will still be slippery, and if your own local road conditions make it too dangerous to travel then please use your own judgement before setting out. We do aim to try and get all children to the correct site tomorrow – however, if the minibus is not able to operate, we will keep the bus children on the Upper Site until conditions improve.

Please do make sure that children come to school in the appropriate cold-weather clothing – they do not need to wear the complete school uniform, but should wear the school jumper over their own clothes. Wellies/boots should be worn, with a change of shoes brought into school to change into.

Nativity

Unfortunately we have had to change the timings of our Upper Rissington Nativity AGAIN!! Performances will now take place at 11.00am and 4.00pm in the school hall (we are unable to do the evening performance any later as this clashes with the Gymnastics Club). We will keep children from Hawk, Spitfire and Harrier class at school at the end of the day, and get them ready for the performance.

Christmas Dinner

This was due to happen tomorrow (Weds). However, due to lack of deliveries, we will now aim to have this on Thursday. Should the deliveries not arrive tomorrow morning, we may have to postpone until the new year – and have a special New Year’s Dinner. Tomorrow’s menu will be the Tuesday menu (Chicken Chow Mein, Pinwheel, Sandwich).

Forest School

Due to the cold weather – there will be NO FOREST SCHOOL tomorrow.

Coffee and Carols

These will still be going ahead as planned!! Weds 10.00am at Great Rissington, Thursday 10.00am at Upper Rissington.

Christmas Services

These will take place as planned – Friday 9.30am at Great Rissington Church, 11.00am at Upper Rissington.

End of Term

Term will finish, as planned, at 1.15pm on Friday 15th December. Next term starts on Wednesday 3rd January.

Once again, thank you for your patience at this time, and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Kind Regards,

Sue Dawe
