Unit Council Meeting

March 8, 2017

Attendance:

Bonnie Blake, Regina Clark, Gilad Cohen, Meredith Davis, Yolanda del Amo, Marc Gidal, Andrew Hadel, Ann LePore, Rebecca Leung, Jonathan Lipkin, Lisa Lutter, Edna Negron, Ben Neill, David Oh, John Peffer, Neel Scott, Ruma Sen, Jackie Skrzynski, Terra Vandergaw, Joel Weissman.

Dean Perry called the meeting to order at 12:10 pm

Guests: JoAnne Zellers, Sr. Dir. of Alumni Relations and Joanne Favata, Dir. Of Alumni Relations spoke of the mission of the department and provided information on the various advisory boards, memberships, publications, events and tools.

Dean’s Announcements:

·  Dean Perry congratulated and praised Gilad Cohen on his Lysander Piano Trio performance and wished him well on his upcoming performance at Carnegie Hall.

·  Dean Perry informed the faculty of the travel budget balance.

·  The Platinum budget is depleted for the year; the last two proposals will be covered, all new requests considered to be covered by the operating budget.

·  Dean Perry reminded the faculty of the Gregg Barnes talk event today at 5pm in the Sharp Theater and encouraged them to attend.

Personnel Item: Retired Comm Arts Professor André Perry has requested consideration for Faculty Emeritus status. Dean Perry explained the process.

Committee Reports:

·  ARC-Meredith Davis reported that the Global Awareness courses have passed thru GECCo. Course numbers for the next school year will remain the same but will change in Fall 2018.

Announcements:

·  Ruma Sen announced the International Women’s Day: Mrinal Letter and I am Chitrangada event tonight in the Adler Theater.

·  Joel Weissman announced that he is on the Search Committee for the Assoc. Provost for Adult Learning and Institutional Effectiveness position and shared dates for the upcoming interviews.
