SCHOOL NUTRITION LEGACY CIRCLE

·  What is the School Nutrition Legacy Circle?

A recognition program for those individuals who make a provision in his/her will, through a retirement plan or insurance policy, or with a donor-advised fund or trust to benefit the School Nutrition Foundation.

·  What is a planned gift?

A planned gift is an arrangement for a contribution to be made to a non-profit organization on your behalf at a future date.

·  In what ways may a planned gift have benefit for me?

o  A planned gift gives you the opportunity to designate how your assets will be used in the future. If you have a commitment to an organization, a planned gift gives you the ability to support that organization for an extended period of time.

o  Some planned gifts can provide income for you (and if desired, another person) for the rest or your life and that of the other person.

o  Other planned gifts are revocable, which means if your circumstances change, you can change your intent.

o  With retirement assets, your heirs may need to pay income tax, if income tax was not paid when the asset went into the plan. If that asset goes to a non-profit organization, the organization does not need to pay any deferred income tax.

·  How will I be recognized as a member of the School Nutrition Legacy Circle?

o  You will receive recognition, if desired, on the School Nutrition Foundation website and in publications, such as the School Nutrition Magazine.

o  You will be recognized at conferences and meetings with a special ribbon for your name badge and acknowledgement at specific general sessions.

o  You will be invited to a special recognition event to welcome new members to the School Legacy Circle from time to time.

o  You may make your gift anonymously, if you choose.

·  What benefits do I receive as a member of the School Nutrition Legacy Circle?

o  You will have an opportunity to share your story with others who care about school nutrition as you do.

o  You will receive customized updates on your specific areas of interest.

o  You will receive communication from SNF on a regular basis, including the foundation newsletter.

·  How do I become a member of the School Nutrition Legacy Circle?

o  Membership is easy. No immediate donation is necessary.

o  Name the School Nutrition Foundation as a beneficiary in your will, retirement plan, insurance policy, donor advised fund, or trust.

o  Complete and return the intent form provided to the School Nutrition Foundation.

·  What is a “charter member” of the School Nutrition Legacy Circle?

o  A charter member is an individual that becomes one of the founding members of the school nutrition legacy circle. Charter members are those who establish the foundation of the program, who set the example for others, and who inspire others to consider becoming a member.

o  Charter members will continue to be recognized as “charter” members in perpetuity.

o  To become a charter member, you need to submit a completed and signed intent form before midnight on December 31, 2015.
