Administrators- helping to rate engagement and giving feedback on improvement through instructional coaching
Teachers will learn about engagement through bi-weekly BLT and TLC meetings focused on teaching strategies of engagement. / If teachers are taught strategies and work through the WOW framework, they will implement engaging lessons that improve student achievement. / August-May / Administrators- teaching bi-weekly workshops through WOW framework.

Teachers will learn about “Reading in the Wild” as a concept by Donalyn Miller. They will be given 3 texts: The Book Whisperer, Reading in the Wild, and The Reading Strategies Book / If the teachers read the three texts best on best practices, they will be ready to develop plans for program implementation during pre-planning. / May-July / Hayes- ordering of books
Ogline- distribution of books
Teachers- reading and taking notes
Mallory- creating google docs and answering questions
Obtain 100 high interested YA books for each reading classroom. / If students have high interest young adult fiction, they will be more likely to read and be engaged. / July / Hayes- ordering of books, asking parents for donations, and applying for grant.
Mallory- Picking out titles using Miller’s works
Mallory and Ogline- organizing the books and distributing them to classrooms
Outline class structure and expectations / If teachers have a template and understand best practices, they will be available to develop effective reading class where students will want to read and learn about genres / July- during pre-planning / Ogline and Mallory will run meetings each day during pre-planning.
Teachers will continue to subject ideas, questions and concerns in google docs
Classes will visit library each week / If students visit the library each will with their reading class, they will learn about the library and will be more likely to choose books they are interested in, raising the reading engagement and levels. / July-May / Mallory- set up the library rotation

VCMS staff will research and begin implementing a weekly 7 Habits lesson with students. / If VCMS implements the 7 habits program that addresses social and emotional issues that middle-school-aged students are prone to experiencing, then students will gain perspective, understanding, and coping strategies when faced with stressful situations. / Semester 1 –Training for 26 staff members
