ACES

SCHOOL DISTRICT 23

1

To the parents and guardians of School District #23 Exceptional Students (formerly known as Special Education Students) in Ministry Designated Categories;

The Advisory Council for Exceptional Students (ACES) will be holding its Annual General Meeting, Resource Fair, andShowcase Night on June 5th, 2014. The works and resources of the many talented students of School District 23 will be on display this evening, and will be presented by the students themselves. There areItems made by the students available for purchase before the AGM, so come prepared! Come and show your support for this hard working group.

There will be respite provided for children on request, so parents can take partinthe evening’s events. An electionwill be held to vote in a newRepresentative and Alternate in all the Ministry Designated categories. Those elected will join the ACES Council in the 2014 – 2015School Calendar Year. We encourage parents to volunteer so that every categorywill have an elected voice. We had great representation this year and are looking forward to ongoing success.

The Annual Report will be presented, and a review of ACES’s achievements this year will be highlighted. ACES supported its first Saturday School Workshop Series with great response, and will continue to support parents with educational tools and resources.

After the meeting, and at the conclusion of voting, the 2014-2015 ACES Council and Student Services Support Staff will be on hand in the gym for questions and answers. Information and resource materialswill remain available. Refreshments will be available. The Board of Education, Superintendent HughGloster, Dr. Peter Molloy, and Student Support Services Staffhave been invited to join in the evening’s activities.

As always, your council has worked hard this year, and continues to strive for the success of all exceptional students in their educational experiences.

Please come out on Thursday, June 5, 2014 and share your thoughts, ideas, and inspirations with us. Or, simply come out and join us for the evening. We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

ACES Council 2013 - 2014
