School Council Meeting Agenda

January 19, 2016

8:15 – 9:15 AM

In Attendance: Dr. Montgomery, Principal; Natalie Gore, County Office; Sandra Stargell-Chair; Trina Cadoree, Co-Chair; Allison Van Tone-Foles, Secretary; Mr. McDaniel, Parent

Call to order – Ms. Stargell

Approval of the Agenda: The agenda was reviewed and approved.

Inspiration- Mrs. Foles

Recognition of Visitors:

Natalie Gore- SPLOST County Office

·  E-SPLOST-Special Purpose Local Optional Sales Tax-E is for Education only

o  This is used only for capital projects

·  1 cent tax that is currently in place

·  This vote would be to continue the SPLOST for another 5 years.

·  If approved it could be used for the following things (but is not limited to): Fiber network, renovations and repairs of school, new construction, Performing Arts Center, outdoor athletics, technology, and purchase of new buses.

·  Early Voting begins on Feb. 8th and March 1st for anyone who does not participate in the early voting.

Report of the Principal:

·  Personalized Learning

o  We were rewarded with a grant in order to continue with Personalized Learning.

o  A team will be put together to decide how the money will be utilized to best meet the needs of Luella Elementary School.

·  SACS

o  Stakeholder data came back with good results.

o  School Council will be a part of the SACS committee and will be asked some questions from the committee

·  Talent Show went great. We had a good turn out and many great performances.

·  Mr. Hardy will be joining us for the next session of Enrichment Clusters.

Old Business

·  Revisiting the plans for STEM night

New Business:

·  Planning for LES Science and Math STEM Night on February 25th from 6:00-8:00.

·  We are keeping the pirate theme. Teachers and students are encouraged to dress up.

·  Zaxby’s sliders will be on sale that night for $1.00.

·  Ms. Cadoree will work on the maps.

·  Ms. Foles will notify the grade level about the required activities-3 per grade level @ 20 mins. each.

·  The teacher with the most student participation that night will receive a $25.00 gift card.
