· an end of the year trip to African Lion Safari had been discussed at a previous council meeting. This is an event planned by the teachers. There are a few concerns that need to be considered: there are families with season's passes; families with younger siblings who want to attend; parents taking their children at the end of the day, etc. These types of things make it difficult to organize this type of trip. Teachers would like to stay with planning a Play Day for the kids with a BBQ provided by Parent Council.
Rural School's Meeting
· took place March 1, 2017 at the board office
· this meeting involves all Hamilton Schools that are rural and have rural schools feeding into them
· there were more principals than parents in attendance
· if parents/councils are not attending the meetings, the school board can decide to cancel the rural schools committee/meeting.
· some extra curricular activities are not available to rural schools because of transportation issues
· online courses are difficult for rural students because some rural homes are still on dial up for their internet
· it was suggested that maybe another forum be made available for parents to communicate to the Rural School's Committee if they are unable to make it to a meeting
· new Greensville school build is on track to open September 2018.

Movie Night
· flyer was in March newsletter
· donations to Food Bank
· may need someone to run the popcorn machine
· ACF will send posters but we need to pay for shipping ($15)
· because we cannot live stream the movie from ACF's website, we have to buy the DVD; it was suggested that we give the movie away as a door prize at the end of the evening. Everyone who enters the movie will receive a ticket for the chance to win the movie or a poster. Lots of tickets under stage in carnival bin that can be used for the draw.
· it was also suggested that we hold on to the movies, creating a little library, so that teachers have access to them. But with the intent that the movies be raffled off at a later date.
· Motion made by Jackie Parry to spend up to $80 to cover the cost of the shipping for the posters and the purchase of the movies (Moana and Sing) with the intent to raffle the items off at a later date. Seconded by Laura Zonta. Motion Carried.
