They can attend any Biology review session, the students do not need to attend a review session given specifically by their teacher.
  • Principal Updates – Principal V. Suarez

Ms. Williams stated that two votes were taken last week. The first vote was for approval of a new School-wide Positive Behavior Plan (SPBP) or to keep the current one and the second vote was to continue or discontinue Professional Study Days (PSD) for the next school year. The votes were in favor of changing the SPBP and to continue the PSD days for the next school year. Data has shown that student achievement has increased by implementing the PSD into the school year. During PSD, teachers meet in their Professional Learning Communities (PLC) groups and work on data-driven instruction and lesson collaboration to increase student achievement.

Principal Ms. Suarez-Please continue to encourage students to come to the AP/EOC review sessions. Mr. Aaronson’s AP students had their oral presentations last week and administration was very happy with the presentations and level of work presented by the students. Ms. Mortimer and Mr. English have given a beautification proposal for the front and side of the school. Any donations for the beautification project will gladly be accepted. Patty Brown was named the District’s Assistant Principal of the Year. Our school’s Twitter account and website (updated by Dr. King) is very active and provides news and updates about the great things our students are doing and accomplishing. 2 scholar athletes received scholarships and 7 students received scholarships from the city of Coral Springs. Suggestions were made to create a progression chart to show students what they need to graduate, how to stay on track, and apply for scholarships. Naviance usuage has increased 50% since November thanks to Guidance going into student classrooms to help them navigate through it.

Parent Comments/Questions: One of our Coral Springs alumni, Richard Wickcliff has just received recognition from Florida State University and published in the Coral Springs newspaper

  • Accountability Funds: Mrs. Nichols requested $1,500 for teachers for planning and developing a curriculum for the EOC camps for the upcoming school year. The allocation will be for teachers to work during the summer so that an action plan can be in place as soon as the new school year begins.
