Scholarship Information

This web page is intended as a service for students in the Bering Strait School District who are seeking financial assistance as they pursue their postsecondary education. It is not intended as an exhaustive list of scholarships and grants available to district students. Students should consider these possibilities while conducting their own search for sources of financial assistance.

Every effort has been made to provide an accurate description of the various scholarships and grants but we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information provided here. The information will be updated as we become aware of errors or changes that have been made by the sponsoring organizations. Students and their families are responsible for contacting the organization directly for the latest information regarding qualifications, applications, and deadlines for the scholarship in which the student is interested.

As people become aware of other viable scholarships, grants, or financial aid to assist students in their postsecondary educational efforts, they can email the information to me at and I can include it on this page for the benefit of all students.

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Assistance)

Free Application for Federal Student Aid should be mailed by the end of January. The form may be completed and sent over the Internet as well. Completing the FAFSA application enables you to apply for the Pell and Stafford Grants offered by the federal government. You can get an Estimated Family Contribution if you go to http://www.finaid.org to get an estimate of what the federal government believes your family can contribute to your education. The Estimated Family Contribution is subtracted from the cost of a year of education and this equals student financial need. Completion of the FAFSA application is often required for scholarships and grants other than those sponsored by the federal government.
