Wuppertal/Nuremberg, 24 November 2015. The Schmersal Group is establishing its own business division for services on 1 January 2016 under the name tec.nicum. It is comprised mainly of certified functional safety engineers who form a global consulting network. The tec.nicum experts advise machine manufacturers and operators on all matters relating to machine and occupational safety. Furthermore, they plan and implement complex safety solutions all over the world in close collaboration with the clients – from the first pencil mark as a co-engineer to complete integration as a turnkey solution.

“By establishing tec.nicum, we have further expanded our position as a provider of systems and solutions. In addition to a comprehensive components programme, Schmersal offers holistic, complete solutions for machine safety. This offer has now been rounded off with extensive safety services from tec.nicum”, explains Jörg Schreiber, Director Strategic Market Development at Schmersal. “Establishing tec.nicum as an autonomous business division underlines our aim of offering our customers a competent, product and manufacturer-neutral consulting service. We strive to develop the best possible safety-related solution for the individual application, to implement it and completely safeguard its intended use – always with the principle of objectivity inmind.”

Even in the past, the Schmersal Group advised its customers extensively and supported challenging projects relating to machine safety. With tec.nicum, the services have now been re-structured and expanded further in a target-orientated way – particularly on an international level.

The range of services offered by tec.nicum covers four segments:

  • tec.nicum academy: transfer of knowledge focusing on all aspects of machine safety within the scope of training courses and seminars. (The tec.nicum academy was born out of the “tec.nicum” training centre, which Schmersal established in Germany as far back as 2006.)
  • tec.nicum consulting: consulting services such as information on standards and directives or safety-related machine inspections
  • tec.nicum engineering: design, planning and programming of safety-related solutions
  • tec.nicum integration: execution and installation of safety devices

The head office of the tec.nicum organisation, which operates all over the world, is in Wuppertal, Germany.
