CRUFTS TEAM FLYBALL 2015/2016

These rules are for the Crufts Flyball event and should be run in conjunction with the specific Flyball regulations H (2).

This is a team competition (knockout). Two teams will compete against each other on separate equipment. The best two of either three or five runs will decide the winner to go into the next round in the heats. In the Final at Crufts the best of three runs will decide the winner to go into the next round.

Each team shall consist of four handlers & dogs plus two reserves. A club may enter more than one team, and a club may qualify more than one team for the final. No handler or dog may enter/compete in more than one team. All dogs entering in KC licensed Flyball competitions must be Kennel Club registered.

A Crufts entry fee will be charged for each dog in the team (not including the reserves).

Teams should note that each team must have at least one ABC (Anything but a Collie) dog in the team. To ensure clarity, the ABC dog should not be a Border Collie, Working Sheep dog or a cross of these. In the event of a dispute at the heats or Crufts Final over the parentage of a dog, a decision will be left to the judge’s discretion. The ABC dog must be an active member of the team not just a listed reserve.

The two highest placed teams will be invited from each heat to compete in the Semi-Final/Final at Crufts. Teams that have previously qualified cannot enter further heats for competition.

Flyball boxes to be used in this competition will be the commercially available flat fronted type and all teams will provide their own Flyball box and tennis balls for any Crufts Flyball competition entered which will include the Final at Crufts. Clubs holding heats will be expected to have a spare approved box available should it be required. The host club will also provide all other equipment needed to run the event; Hurdles will be (10”/25.4cm) high for all dogs in the teams this will be for heats and the Crufts Final.

This competition is governed by Kennel Club regulations for Flyball in force at the time of the heat/Final. Only handlers who are members of the original team, or named as reserves on the entry form, will be allowed to compete in the Crufts Semi-Final/Final, only by exceptional circumstance will any change be allowed, should a dog/handler who was a member of the qualified team be unable to compete in the Crufts Semi-Final/Final an originally declared team reserve should take their place.

The heat will commence at 12:30pm on Sunday 28th August 2016, teams must register with the Show Secretary by 11am on the day of the heat. The team briefing will be at Midday (12 o’clock) on the day.

Special Any Size Jumping

Dogs entered in Special Any Size Jumping cannot be entered in any other class

ROSETTES & CERTIFICATES

Rosettes to 10% of entries, per class.

Trophies to at least 1st place.

Certificates available to 10th place, on request.

WELFARE OF DOGS

An exhibitor (or competitor) whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not knowingly put their dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. A breach of this Regulation may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.

Your dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left in a vehicle in high temperatures and even on days considered as slightly warm. Please take care of your dog.

If your dog is found to be at risk forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any damage caused.

ELIGIBILITY FOR CLASSES

In the following definitions of classes First Prize or other prize wins are those gained in standard classes at any Kennel Club licensed Championship Agility, Premier Agility, Open Agility or Limited Agility Shows (i.e. special classes and invitational events excepted). Only a first place with a clear round completed within the course time set by the judge will count towards grade progression.

Standard classes may be scheduled for Agility Shows, as Agility classes or Jumping classes. All standard classes must contain the Weaving poles obstacle. Standard Agility classes must contain the following elements: “A Ramp”, Dog Walk and See-Saw. With this proviso classes are defined as follows:-

Class Structure

A Class may either be held as a Graded Class or a Combined Class. A Graded Class may be scheduled for one or more consecutive Grades with separate results and awards issued for each grade. A Combined Class may be scheduled for more than one consecutive grade with one overall set of results.

Progression

Progression from each Grade will require one Agility win or three Jumping wins in standard classes at that grade, at either Full Height or the Lower Height Option, except that progression from Grade 5 will require 3 wins at Grade 5, oneof which must be agility class. Progression from Grade 6 will require 4 wins at Grade 6, two of which must be agility classes. Results from Combined Classes will only count towards progression from the dog’s current grade.

Lower Height Option

Societies may offer the Lower Height Option to all dogs in that height category and may be offered at all grades. It is to be run as part of any standard class as defined in the regulations and must be clearly identified in the schedule. When the Lower Height Option is scheduled a dog may only be entered at either the Full Height or at the Lower Height and cannot compete at a different height in any class at that competition. For these purposes a competition shall be defined as all classes covered within the same schedule. Each relevant class will have two height with a change part way through to higher/lower the jump heights and competitors must run at their entered height. The order in which the heights will run must be detailed on the ring cards/ring plan. There will be only one course walking at the start of the class. In a class where the Lower Height Option is available show organisers may offer one set of awards by combining the results of each height or may offer separate awards for each height category.

Points Progression

At the handler’s discretion a dog may progress up to Grade 4 by winning 100 points at each grade, using the Agility Warrant points scheme (Regulation K3.c refers), except that there is no requirement for a minimum number of agility points. If this method of progression is selected, the handler must ensure the Show Secretary signs the dog’s Agility Record Book at the first show entered at the higher grade. There is no time limit on this progression, however, once a dog has progressed, it cannot return to a previous grade. Progression on points must be done prior to the closing date of entries. It is not possible to change a grade on points once the entries have closed.

STANDARD CLASSES

Only First prizes and points gained in standard classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows may be used for progression through the classes. (A dog is only eligible for one grade). In defining the eligibility of the owner or handler for Grade 1, the three jumping wins and points progression referred to in the definition apply only to one dog and not an accumulation of dogs.
