Class Eligibility
Only first prizes and points gained in standard classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows may be used for progression through Classes. (A dog is ONLY eligible for one grade)
Grade 1 (Elementary)
For owners, handlers or dogs which have not gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility shows. NB owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 1 (elementary) are not eligible for this class.
Grade 2 (Starters)
For owners, handlers or dogs which have qualified out of Grade 1 but have not gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows, for elected to progress on points from Grade 1.
NB owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 2 (starters) are not eligible for this class.
Grade 3 (Graduate)
Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grade 1 or 2 or have elected to progress on points from Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and dogs which are not eligible for Grade 4,5,6 or 7.
Grade 4 (Novice)
Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 3 or elected to progress on points from Grade 3 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3,5,6 or 7.
Grade 5 (Intermediate)
Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 4 or elected to progress on points from Grade 4 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3,4,6, or 7.
Grade 6 (Senior)
Open to dogs which have gained first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 5 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3,4,5 or 7.
Height Classifications
Height limit for dogs (as per KC regulations)
a. Large Dogs – For dogs measuring over 43cm (1’ 5”) at the withers.
b. Medium Dogs – For dogs measuring over 35cm (1’ 1.75”) and measuring 43cm (1’ 5”) or under at the withers.
c. Small Dogs – For dogs measuring 35cm (1’ 1.75”) or under at the withers.
Awards
Awards for Large, Medium and Small in each class. Rosettes and Prizes dependent on numbers entered in each class and height category. Clear Round Rosettes for all classes
Rules and Regulations
1. Entry fees £8 per dog for all 3 classes. No individual class entries.
2. BHC agility reserve the right to refuse entries
3. Dogs must be 18 calendar months of age to compete
4. NFC dogs may attend the show
5. No bitch in season is allowed at the show
6. No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time within the boundaries of the show
7. Dogs must not wear any type of slip, half-slip collar or lead when under test. A flat, close fitting leather or webbing collar is permitted, providing the only attachment is a plain i.d. panel as an integral part of the collar.
8. Reserve judges may be called on should a judge be unavailable.
9. No competitor shall impugn the decision of the judge
10. K.C marking will apply
11. Judges are permitted to allow another handler to run their own dogs in their class
12. BHC Agility may withdraw a dog from competing if it is;
A bitch in season
Suffering from any infectious or contagious disease
Interfering with the safety or chance of winning of an opponent
Of such temperament or is so out of hand as to be a danger to the safety of any person, other animal or the event as a whole
Likely to cause suffering to the dog if it continues competing
13. It is the competitors’ responsibility to be available for their class & running order
14. If you have more than one dog in a class you must ensure that they are run in the order drawn failure to do so may result in an elimination
15. BHC Agility reserve the right to amend/cancel classes depending on number of entries
16. Nothing shall not be carried in the hand or given to a dog while competing
17. One entry form per competitor. Entries must be accompanied with appropriate fees.
18. In the event that the show has to be cancelled, BHC Agility reserve the right to defray from entries received such costs as they deem necessary
19. Competitors must follow the instruction of stewards with respect of parking, dogs on leads, exercise areas and conduct within the show boundaries
20. All dogs are entered at the owners’ risk, whilst every care will be taken, BHC Agility, will not accept any responsibility for loss, damage or injury to persons, dogs or property.
21. Please clear up after your dogs. Anyone knowingly not doing so will be asked to leave the venue forfeiting any remaining entries
22. No refunds will be given in the event of incorrect monies being submitted. It is the competitor’s responsibility to check the paperwork before submission. No refunds after closing date
23. Competitors are politely reminded that your dog(s) could be at risk if left in a car on warm days. Please put their welfare first!
Additional Information
Directions - From all directions take M4 to junction 33, signposted Cardiff West/Barry. At roundabout take the exit onto the A4232 signposted Barry. Follow the dual carriageway and take the second exit signposted for Barry / Culverhouse Cross. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto A4050 follow the road and at next roundabout go straight over (2nd exit). At the next roundabout take the first exit. The venue will be clearly signposted
Parking –is limited so please park only where directed. We regret that you will not be able to save a space for friends so if you need to park together please arrange to arrive together
Access – Do not arrive before 8am. We do not have access to the venue before this time.
Refreshments - Hot and cold light refreshments will be available throughout the day
Rubbish - Please ensure you clear up after your dogs and deposit the bags in the bins provided.
Remember:
- Please keep your dog on a lead around the rings and parking areas.
- In the exercise area we are not saying ‘no toys’ but please be sensible; only throw your toys when there are no other dogs nearby.
- Good venues are hard to find and keep – you MUST pick up after your dog.
