July 28, 2011: Mike Lyman presents "War of 1812 Historic Sites on the Northern Neck” to the members of Northern Neck Preservation Virginia group (formerly APVA) at the Wellford Vestry Hall of the St John'sChurch on Route 360 in Warsaw. Members of 1812 invited provided they bring a covered dish. Time 6pm. Contact Becky Marks at 804 394-3102 if you plan to attend.

August 20, 2011 Joint Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, VASSAR and VA 1812 Society grave marking ceremony at the Culpeper Masonic Cemetery in Culpeper. One or two 1812 grave markers and one or two Revolutionary War grave markers are planned to be unveiled. Specifics as to time will be posted on the website when available. Society support is needed, especially 1812 attired members. Contact Lyman for details. Please attend.

August 27, 2011 Mike Lyman gives presentation on burials of 1812 Veterans in the Norfolk/Portsmouth area to the Fort Norfolk Chapter, VA State Society, U.S. Daughters of 1812. Members of our society welcomed, Contact please Chapter President Nancy C. Miller at prior to attending.

September 16-19 2011: Triennial meeting of the general membership of the General Society 1812 in Charleston, SC. Several officers of the Virginia Society are planning to attend including President Maxwell, 2d VP Dickie; Past President Hartman, Past President Parrish and Councilor Fritts.

September 25, 2011: Board of Direction (BOD) meeting at 3pm and social gathering of members from 4-6p.m. in Fredericksburg. All 1812 society members and guests and members of the US Daughters of 1812 are invited. The meeting and social will be at 904 Princess Anne St. It is desired that members wear the society tie (James Monroe tie) Come early and visit the sites.

At 3pm, the Board of Direction (BOD) meeting will be held in the library of member Walter Sheffield’s, Esq. law office in Suite #207 on the second floor under the portico. (It will accommodate up to 10 persons, tightly so some non-BOD may not be able to attend). At 4-6 pm, the membership reception will be on the veranda and/or in the lobby (depending on the weather)

Directions: Get off I-95 at exit 130-A. Come into Fredericksburg on State Route 3 East.Go approximately one mile and turn left at the first stop light after the underpass onto William Street. At the fifth stop light turn right onto Princess Anne Street. The PrincessAnneBuilding is on your right, mid block. This is the four story buff parged building with the white portico out front. There is a parking lot in the back for your convenience. You can come into the parking lot from Princess Anne Street or from George Street (directly across from the James Monroe Law Office and Library which will be open for the convenience of our members). October 29, 2011: Joint Grave Marking ceremony with the VA Society Order of Founders & Patriots of America in Hollywood cemetery in Richmond. A Virginia Founder and a nearby War of 1812 veteran or veterans will be honored. Each society will unveil grave markers during the ceremony. Member attendance desired especially 1812 attired. November 11, 2011: ShockoeHillCemetery in Richmond. A joint ceremony with the VA Society Sons of the American Revolution unveiling a monument with a plaque erected inside the cemetery honoring the large numbers of Revolutionary War patriots and War of 1812 veterans buried there. The 1812 burials there are about four hundred. Again, the VA State Society Daughters of 1812 are contributing to the cost of the monument being erected. Time 2pm. December 3, 2011: Plaque Presentation ceremony at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Norfolk at 2:00pm. The plaques will depict the names of Revolutionary War Patriots and War of 1812 veterans buried in the cemetery. Two plaques are planned, one for the 1812 veterans and one for the Revolutionary War patriots interred or memorialized in the cemetery. The plaques are planned to be mounted on the wall of the historic church. The ceremony is open to the public. Maximum Society attendance is desired.
