Schedule for the move to new diocesan offices
With the completion of construction, the diocesan staff will be moving to the newly constructed office space starting on Feb. 13.
Staff will be available as usual by email and phone until Feb. 19, when computers will be moved. During the time when computers are in transit, emails sent to staff will be held and delivered once things are back up and running.Phones will be moved on Feb. 20.
On Feb. 19 and 20, contact with staff members by email or phone will be spotty. But we plan for systems to be operational as quickly as possible.

Looking for last-minute resources for Lent?
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14, and a variety of resources are available for congregations and individuals to have a meaningful season.
Good Book Club: A new offering from Forward Movement, the Good Book Club invites the reading of the gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles during Lent and the Easter season. The readings begin on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday (Feb. 11) and finish on Pentecost (May 20). Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John: The monks of the Society of St. John the Evangelist and Virginia Theological Seminary are providing a prayer journal, reflections and video for use by groups or individuals during Lent. Earlier registration for MegaCamp is required for scholarship applications
April 1 is the registration deadline for anyone who wants to be considered for a scholarship to the 2018 MegaCamp, which takes place June 3-9 at Camp Wood YMCA near Elmdale.
Payments are due by May 11, and registration will remain open until all beds are full.
Camp is open to those currently in grades 3-12 and their friends. The cost is $440 for the week.
Thecamp theme this year is“Beyond Belief,” which will help campers ponder the BIG questions about God. What if God is bigger than you ever imagined? What if hope was real? What if you could change the world?Campers will explore how God can be seen in the vastness of creation, the power of community and even in their own hearts.
The volunteer Episcopal staff provides solid Christian education, featuring worship, music, small group discussions and prayer. Camp Wood features a variety of activities such as horseback riding, archery, climbing tower, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, water slide, mud slide, arts and crafts, and sports.

Adult youth volunteers invited to ‘thank you’ reception
Adults who have volunteered with diocesan youth ministry in the past year are invited to a “thank you” reception and networking opportunity on Friday, Feb. 16, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Upton Hall in Topeka. Overnight accommodations are available.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be provided, and attendees are invited to bring their own beverages.

Reminder: UTO grant applications are due by Thursday, Feb. 15
Anyone wishing to apply for a grant from the United Thank Offering has until Feb. 15 to submit their application to the diocesan office.The completed grant application form and a proposed project budget are required.
The focus for the 2018 United Thank Offering grants is “Becoming Beloved Community: Racial Healing, Reconciliation and Justice.” UTO will consider applications that are for start-up costs for a new ministry, but not for the continuation of an ongoing ministry, unless there is a definite new direction added to the existing program.

Youth news
High school students invited to participate in music leadership weekend
- Who: High school students who are interested in playing at youth events (junior high students may attend with Youth Missioner permission)
- What: Leadership games, hang-out time and most importantly time to practice playing and singing together. Participants alsowill provide music for Sunday morning worship.
- When: Friday, March 2, 7 p.m. to Sunday, March 4, 11:30 a.m. New or younger musicians who want to explore this ministry may choose to attend for Saturday only, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (or for those who can’t attend the whole weekend, this also is an option).

> Register for workshop on ‘These Are Our Bodies.’ Samantha Haycock, co-author of the new “These Are Our Bodies: Talking Faith & Sexuality at Church & Home High School Leader Guide, Parent Book, and Participant Book” will lead this one-day workshop for children and youth ministers and volunteers on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Upton Hall in Topeka.
The morning will focus on the foundation book’s four themes: theological, ethical, biological and practical; after lunch the group will spend time on how to approach sexuality in ministry every week.

Summer Youth Ministry Internship applications accepted through Feb. 28
This internship seeks to equip and send a young disciple into the “harvest field” of youth ministry. Interns will assist with planning and leading camp, MissionWichita, a trip to General Convention and Happening. The church needs more faithful, committed and talented leaders in both lay and ordained ministry.
- Who is the internship for? Episcopal college students and young adults who are interested in ministry. Students must have completed their first year of college before they can apply.
- Is it paid?Yes! The intern is expected to work full-time for 10-12 weeks from mid-May to the end of July. Free housing may be arranged at the KU Canterbury House. Interns get two “personal days” during the summer that may be used with prior approval.

Parochial reports are due March 1
Clergy and wardens are reminded that their church’s annual Parochial Report must be completed and returned to the diocesan office no later thanMarch 1. Paper copies of the report were sent to all churches of the diocese in January.

The Rev. Michael Munro, rector of St. Paul’s, Leavenworth, has announced his retirement, effective May 20. He has served there since 2000.
The Rev. Matt Zimmermann, rector of St. Margaret’s, Lawrence, has announced his retirement, effective May 27. He has served there since 2009.
