Scent-Free Policy

GCAP promotes a scent-free environment. Some students and staff have environmental sensitivities and your cooperation would be very much appreciated. We request that you use unscented hygiene and hair products as much as possible. You may not wear perfumes or colognes at any time. Thank you for your participation.

Summer Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

If you are staying in the Residence, parking is complimentary with your stay. Please ensure you indicate that you require parking upon check-in at Residence (not through Parking Services) so that they can provide you with the applicable residence parking permit. Short-term parking (less than 30 minutes) is free in Lot 2 for those staying in residence as well.

Non-resident participants may contact the Parking Office in person to pre-arrange their parking passes for the summer institute if they wish. The passes will also be available from the Parking Office on orientation day during the hours noted above. When you arrive on the first day, you will need to pay for parking in order to avoid being ticketed. Attendees will not be given a grace period on the first day in order to make these arrangements. The conference rate for parking in the Open Lots on campus is a monthly rate of $85/car. Alternatively, students can pay the daily rate of $8 per day in Lots A and B. Please contact the Parking Office for a list of recommended open lots. *Parking rates subject to vary based on type of pass purchased.

MRU Services and Facilities

Mount Royal Campus Card

Each of you will require a Campus Card that will provide you with access to various services and facilities at Mount Royal University during the summer institute. Please note that Campus Cards issued prior to May 1, 2006 are no longer valid.

Students will need to go to the Campus Card office as soon as they arrive to obtain their Campus Cards.

GCAP will cover the cost of your first Campus Card. A $10 replacement fee will be charged to the student if a replacement is required. Your card can be used to obtain student discounts at different merchants and businesses outside of MountRoyalUniversity.

Note to all returning students: if you have a Campus Card that was issued after May 1 of 2006, you do not need to obtain a new card; your card from last year will automatically be activated based on your student ID number.

Campus Cards will be issued to GCAP students and instructors through the Campus Card office. Please pick up your Campus Card on the Day 1 orientation (you will be guided to this as part of your campus tour.) The Campus Card office will remain open over the lunch hour. Make sure you are carrying your cards with you at all times. If you access the building after hours, Security may ask to see your Campus Card; if you are not carrying the card, you will be asked to leave the building.

Passes:

For those staying in residence, a special rate for the Recreation Centre is available at a rate of 25% off the day pass and 10visit pass. The discounted rate breakdown for these passes is as follows (includes taxes):

·  Day Pass: $8.66 inc tax(regular price $11.55)

·  10 Visit Pass: $74.03 inc tax(regular price $98.70)

A third option is to purchase a Spring/Summer Student Membership. This membership is valid from May-Aug, but can be prorated. The prorated rate in early July would be approx $50(tax included).

Access:

At the MRU Recreation Customer Service Centre, you must identify yourself as a GCAP Summer Institute participant and show your Residence Key to receive this rate.

Friday 6:00 am – 9:00 pm

Saturday/Sunday/Holidays 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
