Scene 1- Abu with Aladdin Through All of Scene 1, Does All Cast Dances and Lines

Scene 1- Abu with Aladdin through all of scene 1, does all cast dances and lines
Curtain closed, spot on Genie in front of curtain, after lines, behind curtain, Genie Sings in opening #.
Jafar and Iago enter away from hanging mic, Gazeem is under mic, Cave voice from offstage and don’t forget to turn on and off the mic, use the echo effect and have ready prior to show.
the curtain opens on cue with the line “because you are Abu, now eat. ( have a fake fruit in both of your hands) Music starts while the crowd gets to their location. where the market place walk to the floor by using the ramp and outer stairs, only the baker, grocer and butcher use the wooden stairs to clear the view for the audience. Do the dance while walking to your place if not there. Must hit your spot by “When the winds from the east…..”
Emily G- Use headset mic that goes with the handheld cave system. You will wear that headset for your solos and use the cave handheld for the Aladdin interview. After Ar. Pat 2, place the handheld offstage safely before returning to sing part 3.
On Ar part 2- add guards with swords, scarves need to be in the air, genie chorus and harem need to circle and dance
Page 24- 3 Prince entrance- 1st Prince entrance- react with positive as each walks in. Each Prince needs to bow to Sultan and after Jasmine will dismiss them with a gesture, a head turn, a wave or look. Crowd claps lightly with slight cheer, but not too loud as the big yay will be at the wedding. This happens for all 3
Ar part 7- All solos must hit the apron well in front of cast- Genie hits the brown box, Aladdin to the right and Jasmine to the left, look at Arabian nights Ill. Is there 4 girls that can do this? I like it
After the song, thaw after 5 and freeze to a character pose, do not thaw until the line Thief, Thief
Page 27- Jasmine sneaks for cape. Only speaking lines have movement, the rest is completely frozen, Aladdin says added line with town frozen, ADDED LINE FOR ALADDIN AT BOTTOM BEFORE BAKER THAWS AND DELIVERS : “thief , thief line” baker comes alive as Abu dances, Abu throws to Al, rest the same. Don’t forget to lose the bread after you jump, place safely offstage
Jump Ahead part 1- group from floor just point at Aladdin versus the tug of war part of the dance ( too many)

Page 31- work the guards rushing through the crowd- assign directions they go
Townspeople must act during this scene to give the guards areas to with. React to them when they come near you.
Narr 3 line only makes sense if there is a lot chaos and worry.
After Jump Ahead part 2- townspeople walk off all 4 exits to the back of café- Anyone with upcoming lines or in Friend Like me need to stay HIDDEN offstage.
after page 30- no Abu- you run off so you are not there for the big jump since there isn’t enough space

Play track 12 again while the curtain is closed- turn to gold , The music gives a 45 second buffer to move that set safely play track 13 right after-

Carpet rolls and freezes, high fives to Aladdin
Friend like me is either as carpet or Genie depending on how fast you are. You change once the Genie appears, sneak off in the same trick of her entering.
After Friend- carpet comes in on Page 55 with Genie line “Can’t do this, can’t do that Can’t get us out of here, Genie pretends to have power over the carpet and pulls you onstage. Have a seat, carpet sits
Bye bye- Aladdin off, Bye, bye again carpet dances off

Scene 5- page 57
Close curtain, swith to purple castle, remove all the gold
Curtain opens on page 59- Show him in now! Curtain opens slow to the music track 22
Prince Ali brings the large group back to the stage and ABU joins Alladin group, you are the last in the procession doing your monkey dance I will teach you.
65-66- Townspeople freeze in a reaction face with the Prince arrival, Abu reacts with smiles, gestures of pride, happiness, but not super close to him, exit with Aladdin
At bottom of 66- all leave with a thaw, 4 exits- Music Theater class hides on stage, others to the back of cafe

75- carpet ,moves toward Jasmine/Aladdin-cart is only used for the Prince Ali scene. You can now move to the ramp area instead. Go back to standing like in the Genie scene. try as just them as a duet
Now carpet can stay out at bottom of 81 and high five Aladdin as well as his other celebratory gestures at the top of 82
Guards can arrest the carpet also with her staying on stage too
Page 83- I will choreograph the Genie with track 28 or please try it alone
Why Me Guard songs needs some timing help. You are close but you can do it!
Scene 7- play track 31 again to give time to switch to the gold but no lion head
Bottom of 85- all those on stage hidden come out for wedding and show very gleeful faces and excitement for the occasion
On page 88 when the hat is knocked off “so it was you in the marketplace” the crowd from the back comes up, reacting to the scene with NO SOUND!!!! Do not rush your walking. You need to appear to be gossiping about it and join in to hear more. I want you in place for the Prince Ali reprise 2 if you are group 1
While on stage you need to react to what you are seeing or we will bring you in later. Really express what you see and how you would react in real life.
Group 2 and 3 when the Genie is freed by Aladdin. You walk up amazed and use the entrance to put you in place for A Whole New World finale.
ONLY COME UP FROM THE BACK IF YOU HAVE A SCARF, SWORD, ETC. It can be any color, made of tulle or bouncy fabric. No scarf/no fabric, no finale

Genie: A, Salaam and Good morning/evening to you my worthy friends. Welcome to Agrabah, City of Mystery, of enchantment and the finest merchandise this side of the river Jordan. DO not be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts.
This is no ordinary lamp! It once changed the course of a young man’s life. A young man who liked this lamp and it was more than what he seemed it was. A diamond in the rough. Perhaps you would like to hear the tale? It begins on a dark night where a man waits with a dark purpose.
Jafar: You are late.
Gazeem: a thousand apologies, O patient one.
Jafar: At last, after all my years of searching, the cave of wonders!
Iago: Awk! Cave of wonders!
Jafar: Now remember, Bring me the lamp!, The rest of the treasure is yours, but the lamp is mine.
Iago: Awk the lamp, Awk the lamp!
Cave: Who disturbs my slumber?
Gazeem: It is Gazeem a humble theif.
Cave: Know this. Only one may enter here. One who is a diamond in the rough.
Iago: I can’t believe it! I just don’t believe it! We will never get a hold that silly lamp.

Narr- He comes from that city over there, Agrabah, city of mystery and precious jewels of all kinds. Ah, here comes our illustrious hero now, un, doing what he does best.
Enter Aladdin and Abu from audience
Aladdin: You were brilliant Abu. And now we eat., at least for today.
Abu: Just once I’d like to see you do the dancing. Why do I always have to jump around like a little ape?
Aladdin: Because you are Abu, because you are, now eat.
All others enter from back while Abu lines and are in place for opening song.
Genie line after Arabian Nights part 1-Genie: Now you know what Agrabah is famous for right? The lamp. Don’t be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not wat is outside, but what you see on the inside that counts.. You see Agrabah is where a penniless nobody can turn out to be a noble somebody!
