SARPY COUNTY VISITORS COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF MEETING
NOVEMBER 16, 2017
A meeting of the Sarpy County Visitors Committee was convened in an open and public session in the Sarpy County conference room on November 16, 2017.
Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereto by publication in the Suburban Newspapers on November 8, 2017; proof of publication is on file at the Sarpy County Tourism Office. Notice of the meeting was simultaneously given to all members of the Sarpy County Visitors Committee. All proceedings were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public.
PRESENT: Michelle Alexander, Dave Compton, Kyle Fisher, Tony Moody, Jan Vala and Margaret White. Staff present were Fred Uhe and Dan Hoins, guests Linda Lovgren and Randa Zalman.
ABSENT:Bob Hill, Jr.
The meeting was called to order by Chair Kyle Fisher at 2:06. Minutes of the September meeting were approved on a motion. Motion carried.
Financial reports were unavailable but Fred Uhe announced that the August promotion receipts were $77,832.17. A discussion followed on the types of data that the committee would find helpful in the future.
Linda Lovgren (Lovgren Marketing Group) and Randa Zalman (Canary & Coal) discussed the scope of services that could be provided by their group. An update on our social media campaign was included as well.
Interim Director’s Report. Fred reported on the Nebraska Tourism Conference and meetings with Visit Omaha and the La Vista Multisport Complex.
Fred also identified some changes made to the Holiday marketing strategy and the potential for future partnerships, both internal and external to Sarpy County.
Fred also announced that both short and long-range planning needed to be addressed by this Committee but for the sake of time that discussion will occur in the future but he urged everyone to give some consideration as to what you think is working, not working and what we can do better as we move forward into the future.
County Administrator Dan Hoins addressed the group. He thanked everyone for their participation and announced that in the near future the “Interim” would be removed from Fred’s title.
Discussion was held regarding the December meeting date and if the Holidays would impact the availability of a quorum. The consensus was to meet as usual on December 21.
There being no other business for the good of the order, the meeting was adjourned at 3:50.
