Title:High SchoolPrincipal

-Master’s Degree in educational leadership, curriculum and instruction or related field.

-Valid Ohio Administrative license: High School Principal 9-12

-Previous High School Principal experience or instructional leadership experience required with demonstrated evidence of improved student achievement.

-Evidence of creating a 9-16 Innovative School Environment that supports 21st century learning opportunities for all students as related to the Common Core.

-Exhibits transformational behavior and provides evidences of leading a school to higher achievement.

-Ability to recruit and retain students in the high school age bracket.

-Ability to work with middle school to ensure transition from the middle school to high school.

-Ability and evidence to collaborate with faculty and staff members that leads to higher student success.

-Ability to comprehend student achievement data as it relates to academic performance and utilizes the data to lead the high school to “Excellent” or higher on the Ohio Report Card.

-Demonstrates student management leadership, offering innovative programming that leads to higher student achievement.

-Ability to market and communicate the attributes of the school to internal and external audiences on an on-going basis.

-Ability and evidence of seeking external funding opportunities to enhance the high school experience.

Performance Responsibilities:

Collaborative Instructional Leadership:

  1. Provides leadership in implementing, sustaining and evaluating a standards-based curriculum consistent with the district’s goals and objectives;
  1. Demonstrate the ability to utilize data to drive curricular and instructional decisions and practices in the classroom;
  1. Establishes expectationsfor and monitors the effectiveness of the interdisciplinary team concept and the interdisciplinary team process as it applies to all teachers;
  1. Understands the use of differentiated instruction to promote student achievement; monitors its implementation in classrooms and evaluates its efficacy.
  2. Monitors the design and delivery of the standards-based curriculum using the walk-through process.
  1. Creates innovative school environment that supports 21st century learning opportunities for all students.
  1. Promotes a positive learning environment
  1. Establishes the underlying values of the high School.
  2. Integrates instructional goals into all facets of the high school operation.
  3. Establishes high expectations for performance and monitors the performance of those expectations.

Management:

Assure that all Board of Education policies, rules and regulations are enforced, as well as those of the Ohio Department of Education and all negotiated contracts.

Staff Personnel:

  1. Screens, interviews, and recommends employment and contractual status of staff.
  2. Prepares master schedule.
  3. Supervises and directs the assistant principals.
  4. Evaluates and supervises all personnel.
  5. Assigns staff within building to particular teaching or support positions.
  6. Responsible for scheduling and conducting regular staff meetings, Building Leader Team meetings and Grade Level team meetings.
  7. Coordinates all extra-curricular activities as appropriate.

Pupil Personnel:

  1. Establishes rules and sets the tone for student discipline in accordance with school board policy and current school law.
  2. Makes final decision on suspension of students. Recommends to Superintendent on expulsion of students.
  3. Participates in IEP meetings as required.

Public Relations:

  1. Develops and maintains positive parent relations.
  2. Supports the school/community organizations.
  3. Develops and maintains positive written and verbal communication with the community.
  4. Encourages staff to maintain positive relationship with community.

5.Evidence of working with parents, boosters, and community members that maintains and enhances the pride, traditions and legacy of SanduskyHigh School.

Resource Management:

  1. Prepares a school budget which will adequately support school programs.
  2. Oversees the ordering and purchasing of materials, supplies, and equipment.
  3. Supervises student activity accounts.
  4. Develops long range plans to address building needs.

Building Operations:

  1. Assess the general conditions and needs of the building and grounds and reports same to appropriate support staff.
  2. Works with custodial and maintenance staff to insure the proper cleanliness, repair and safety of the building and grounds.

Professional Growth:

  1. Participates in local, state, and national professional organizations.

Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
