San Diego, CA – June 4, 2015…. San Diego City College President Anthony Beebe is the featured speaker at the 7th Annual San Diego Metro Academic Military Recognition Ceremony on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Naval Base San Diego.

The Navy College Office, Naval Base San Diego, under the auspices of the Navy Region Southwest, hosts the Annual Academic Military Recognition Ceremony to honor all service members, veterans, Department of Defense (DOD) civilians, DOD contractors and family members who have earned an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree during the 2014-15 academic year.

Jeanie M. Tyler, Director, Off-Campus Programs for San Diego City College explained, “As one of seven resident schools offering credit education programs onboard Naval Base San Diego, San Diego City College proudly participates in the recognition ceremony each year.”

Honored to be asked to address the graduating military members, Dr. Beebe shared, “It is meaningful to me that our students whom have served our country so admirably receive this extra recognition fortheir outstanding academic achievements.”

City College students participating in the recognition ceremony this year include: Anabel Caizzo, associate’s degree in business administration; ArteliaDeloisKorokous, certificate in alcohol and other drug studies; Timothy Harper, certificate in alcohol and other drug studies; Ivan Ruiz, associate’s degree in liberal arts and scientific studies with an emphasis in math and pre-engineering; and Trevor Smith, associate’s degree of science in biology. Also included from the San Diego Community College District are San Diego Miramar College students, Javier Chen, associate’s degree in social behavioral sciences with honors; and William Figueroa, fire protection technology.
