D. PROPOSAL NARRATIVE

1. Project Description (40 points)

GoNoodle Suggestion - In this section, explain the “challenge” or why your school needs to increase the minutes of physical activity for your students. Give a description of your student population and project goals based on what you think your school can achieve over the course of the grant. Use the information provided to your school in the monthly GoNoodle report (detailed below) to create measurable outcomes your school can accomplish. For example, by December 2015, 35% of students will engage in classroom physical activity using GoNoodle. Below you will find sample text you can use to describe the GoNoodle Plus resource.

In order to increase physical activity opportunities for our students every day, my school is requesting funding from KIDS in the GAME to purchase GoNoodle Plus licenses for the 2015-2016 school year.

GoNoodle facilitates physical activity in the classroom by providing a variety of online games and videos that lead students in 2-15 minutes of stretching, running, dancing and deep breathing exercises. GoNoodle’s Indoor Recess games are designed to get kids moving on days when inclement weather restricts outdoor play.

GoNoodle improves classroom engagement by channeling students’ natural energy to improve behavior, focus and achievement. Each class chooses a Champ, a virtual mascot, who grows as the class earns the minutes of physical activity needed to advance to the next level.

GoNoodle Plus offers games aligned to core subjects that were developed by experts in Math and ELA standards. Combining physical movement, repetition and skills practice to support memory and recall, the games enrich classroom lessons and aid in fluency through kinesthetic learning. GoNoodle Plus games reinforce spelling, math, vocabulary, geography, nutrition, grammar, science and technology. Five games include the “My Questions” feature that allows teachers to create custom question sets on any topic. GoNoodle Plus also explores social, emotional and physical health topics. The mindfulness game, Flow, empowers students to feel more confident, safe and calm by positively influencing attitude, stress, behavior, focus and emotions. GoNoodle’s Ultimate Champ Training game incorporates age-appropriate health trivia with vigorous exercise.

GoNoodle Plus benefits

●  Easy to use and integrate into the classroom.

●  Teachers see immediate benefits of improved engagement with students,

leading to better classroom performance.

●  Students get measurable, incremental minutes of physical activity.

●  Number of unique active users (teachers)

●  Number of physical activity breaks played by our school

●  Average minutes of physical activity achieved by students daily

●  Top 10 users each month

2. Project Activities (10 points)

GoNoodle suggestion - Describe the number of students in your school/the number of students involved in the project. Teachers can use GoNoodle Plus at any time during the day and students participate next to their desks. No additional equipment or facilities are needed for the project. Teachers only need Internet access, a computer, interactive whiteboard or a projector and screen.

3. Project Staffing (20 points)

GoNoodle suggestion – Describe your project champion and why they were chosen. GoNoodle Plus licenses will be available to every teacher, administrator, and support staff member to use, and there is no training required to use GoNoodle Plus. In order to provide outreach to the community, teachers may use the “Invite Parents” feature available on the GoNoodle platform to send a PDF home to parents (available in English and Spanish) that describes GoNoodle and then invite them to a parent night to try GoNoodle in person.

4. Project Sustainability (15 points)

GoNoodle suggestion – Explain what other funding opportunities are available to your school to continue using GoNoodle Plus.
