I am a motivated, professional, forward thinking individual working as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in Acute Medicine at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.Previously I worked as a Highly Specialised Physiotherapist within Acute Medicine.Mycurrent post is both innovative and novel enabling collaborative, multi-professional working between medical staff, nursing staff and allied health professionals in order to deliver the best possible high quality, compassionatepatient centered care. I am dedicated to improving flow through services thus avoiding unnecessary consequences, ensuring a smooth and timely patient journey.I am passionate about crossing long standing occupational and organisational boundaries and know that my enthusiasm and excellent interpersonal skills will allow me not only to achieve this within SAM but also within the wider evolving healthcare system in the UK, additionally enhancing the multi-professional ethos of SAM. My other interests include the identification of frailty within AMU, clinical leadership and human factors.
I am passionate about the development of ACP roles and have played a pivotal role within my Trust in the development of a recognised, standardised career pathway for AHPs and nurses within Acute Medicine. As it is important to embed these roles within developing services nationally, I am a member of the King’s Fund Advisory Group for Acute Medical Models for Smaller Hospitals. Through this work I am committed to ensuring that the role of the ACP is recognised within new service developments. Scrutinising the quality of healthcare provided is key to implementing change and innovation. With this in mind in the future I would like to see the regulation of multi-professional advanced practice and a growing body of ACPs within SAM.
The skills, experience and enthusiasm that I havewill allow me to bring an innovative edge if elected as SAM Nursing Representative.
