Money, Money, Money. You are a young college graduate in search of his/her first salaried position with a company in your career field. You are single and can choose to live anywhere in the United States.

Using Microsoft Excel, research and prepare the following spreadsheets and graphs. When finished go back to the intermediate standards webpage and get the checklist. Submit the checklist with completed assignments. (complete excel check off section first)

Data Collection

Salary Comparisons by City

Create a 10 column and 3 row spreadsheet of salary information for a particular job title of yourchoice. You will be creating a spreadsheet and charts to compare the low, median, and highsalaries for this particular job as it compares to the samejobtitle and salaries in 10differentcities of your choice. Use the website address below to gather your information.

Directions:

From the website, select SALARY, SEARCH US SALARIES,.

Enter a JOB TITLE and LOCATION (this is the field box located under the Enter ZIP code field). Do NOT use a zip code).

 Click “Search”.

Select one of your choices belowand select “view salary info”.

Enter the low, and high salary from the chart in to your spreadsheet.

Have your spreadsheet calculate the median (middle) salary by subtracting the two, divide by 2, then add to the low numb.

Repeat the process for the same job for 10 different locations.

Graphing Data

After you have collected all the data,

B)Create a pie chart that compares the high, median, OR low salaries for all 10 cities. Click HERE to learn how to create pie charts in EXCEL.

Format all spreadsheets using the proper formatting technique learned in Computer Tech. Standards. See the checklist below:

A correctly formatted spreadsheet has/is:
Headings centered over columns
Title centered over the spreadsheet
Correct formulas (don’t use calculator) (Hint – see front of resource packet)
Decimals aligned in numeric columns (Hint – highlight cells, dec, align button)
Commas and $ where appropriate (Hint – highlight cells, format, cells)
Centered vertically and horizontally on page (Hint – print preview, margins)
Name and Period in the header (Hint – view, header/footer)
Error free (look carefully!)
