We gained MAT status in late 2015 and our family of academy’s and Free Schools is expanding. Within the growing Multi-Academy Trust, Trinity Academy is the outstanding flagship school, our Executive Principal is a National Leader of Education and we are the lead school in the Trinity Teaching School Alliance and White Rose Maths Hub.

Recently The Maltings College and Akroydon Primary in Halifax joined our trust and we are working with other primary and secondary schools and academies, to provide support and leadership. These schools include Cathedral Academy in Wakefield and Sowerby Bridge High School.

Finance and Operations Manager

Support teams within the trust are committed to ensuring that these standards are replicated across all establishments in the trust and that the service received is outstanding.

As the Finance and Operations Manager, you will prepare financial information and returns as required by the trust Management Accountant, Principal or other statutory bodies andyou will ensure these are produced in an appropriate and timely format. You will be responsible and accountable for adherence to trust procurement policies, procedures and protocols to support the school/academy business functions. A key element of the role will be to provide advice and leadership in all operational matters, ensuring all user needs are met and a high quality service is maintained.

You will be responsible for checking and liaising with the HR Team and trust Management Accountant to ensure payroll and pension returns for schools and academies within the trust are accurate. The role entails effective operation of financial controls and will require reporting and working with accounting and budgeting systems and with budget holders to ensure compliance.

As the Finance and Operations Manager you will be able to effectively lead and work as a member of the team, participating and contributing in meetings and be able to negotiate when necessary. The role will involve liaising effectively with other organisations and agencies to develop and maintain effective relationships. You will be able to prioritise, plan and organise your work and have the ability to make important strategic decisions based on analysis, interpretation and understanding.

The successful candidate will work under the strategic lead of the trust CFO and lead the in-house finance team at Sowerby Bridge High School. You will work with, and alongside the HR team and trust Management Accountant to support effective operation of financial controls.

The successful candidate will have previous relevant experience in financial management or business operations management and be able to work in a timely manner, under pressure and to tight deadlines. You will fully understand the principals and practices of strategic financial and asset management and link this with contribution to success.

You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards are maintained for staff, students, tenants and visitors with responsibility for responding to complaints from external hirers/users.

As this is a trust role, the successful candidate will work across the trust as required but be predominantly based at Sowerby Bridge High School.
