MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES

Meeting was held on–12-08-2014--at St. Peter Meeting rooms A & B.

Meeting was called to order by Grand Knight Ted Mirenda

Warden Bill Young reported on membership cards.

Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight at the Shrine of the Unborn.

The minutes of the last meeting on-11-10-2014 -were read and/or amended.

ADMISSIONS REPORT: Roy Staszak: No new applications at this time.

1-Roy reported on the planning of membership drives for the coming year. There will be more details during the coming year.

GRAND KNIGHTS REPORT: Ted Mirenda;

1-Ted read, and past out a letter from Archbishop Chaput on the upcoming Advent season and the 10 ways to strengthen our faith throughout the year.

2-Ted reported on the adult Christmas party led by D.G.K. Dan Drumeler and all who attended had a very good time. Ted remarked that by the front of the restaurant he noticed a statue of The Sacred Heart that you don’t see in most public venues.

3-Family of the Month: Dan Drumeler and his wife for their work with the Christmas Party.

4- Knight of the Month: Tom Foley for his work setting up the council’s web page.

CHAPLAINS REPORT: Father Fitzpatrick: No report this meeting.

1-Tom reports that members who sent in their dues early, their cards are ready and will be passed out after the meeting.

REPORT OF AUDITOR’S AND TRUSTEES: Roy Staszak, Joe Mitri, Paul Guinan:

No report at this time.

CHANCELLOR’S REPORT: Chuck Beebe: D.G.K. Dan Drumeler reporting:

1-Chuck asked to keep Paul Guinan, Jim Rief, and Tom Landry in our prayers.

2-There is no Supreme Convention meeting for November or December. There will not be a meeting until after the holidays, January 3rd.

3-No report on vocation other than Ted reporting on our seminarian David O’Brien and how David appreciates his involvement with the Knights.

REPORT OF SERVICE PROGRAM COMMITTEE: D.G.K. Dan Drumeler;

COMMITTEE DIRECTORS;

CHURCH DIRECTOR: Tom Lanchoney;

1-Tom Stressed the importance of gift cards (or script) from our church office, that benefits both the recipient and the church, especially during the Christmas season. Cards or script are available for most retailers in our area. These include Wawa, Amazon, Sheetz, American Eagle, Gap, Old Navy, Boscov’s, Dunkin Donuts, Kohl’s, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Home Goods, Wal-Mart, Cabela’s, Dicks Sporting Goods, Staples, Payless Shoes, Regal Cinema, Barnes and Noble, Olive Garden, Outback and many others. A portion of each gift purchased is credited to St. Peter Church.

2-Tom apologized for not having the monthly Eucharistic Adoration schedule, but stated it will be coming in an e-blast.

COMMUNITY DIRECTOR: Chuck Beebe: N.T.R.

COUNCIL WEB COORDINATOR: Tom Foley;

1-Tom states that the web page is up and running and he reviewing the page to correct any typos that may be on the page.

2-Tom asked for any ideas or thoughts that members would like to see.

FAMILY DIRECTOR: Tom Foley;

1-Children’s Christmas party is coming in two weeks. Tom passed around a volunteer sign up sheet. Party is 12-20-2014, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. He’s still getting toys, and decorations.

YOUTH DIRECTOR: Bill O’Brien: N.T.R.

PRO LIFE DIRECTOR: John McMullen:

1-He reported on the struggles of the Sisters of the Poor, who have an appeal in the Denver courts that if goes against them would effectively put them out of business.

2-California courts now have mandated that surgical abortions be covered under the “affordable health care act”.

3-Birthright of West Chester thanked everyone who made a donation to the second annual “baby shower” in front of planned parenthood's office. Approximately $180.00 was donated.

4-On 1-18-2015, there will be a March for Life in West Chester. Details will be on the ChescoPro life web site.

5-January 22nd will be the March for Life in Washington D.C. Information will be in the church bulletin.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

1-Roy Staszak reported on the Keep Christ in Christmas efforts. In summary, it could have been a lot better.

2-Tom Tracy reported on the Santa Visits to local nursing homes, the first at Hickory House on 12-9-14, at 9:30am, and Tel Hai on 12-18-14 at 9:20am.

3-Ted reports that the Knights lottery sales are slow. The need for more sales was stressed.

4-Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest headed by Don Trevalino is progressing but is on hold due to release papers that must be signed.

NEW BUSINESS

1-St. Peter Council #10351 will be celebrating its 25th anniversary on April 1st, 2015. Looking for a volunteer to head that up, and or any ideas to help celebrate the occasion.

2-Roy is looking for any and all ideas for more efforts to support a drive to “Keep Christ in Christmas” for 2015. He passed around an idea from another council that has worked very well for them.

3-Thank you cards from Bishop Shanahan, for supporting the fine arts group, the second card from the V.A. of Coatesville for the sock and underwear drive, and the third card from a bishop from India, who we sent money to 10 or 12 years ago, who sends Christmas and Thanksgiving cards every year.

4-Tom Tracy states that at Tel Hai, there will be on the 13th of December, a “Holly Trail” from 12:00pm to 4:00pm to show Christmas displays and train displays.

REPORT OF THE FOURTH DEGREE: Joe Mitri:

1-Dec. 12th there will be a Mistletoe Program at the V.A. to stuff stockings for the vets, at 9:00am, bldg #5, and on the 13th they will distribute them to the nursing home at the V.A. at 9:30am, bldg #5.

2-The night of the 12th they will be at St. Agnes in regalia for Our Lady of Guadalupe mass. If anyone wishes to attend, be there at 6:30pm.

DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT: Bill Shields

1-Bill stressed the importance of our efforts on the “Keep Christ in Christmas” program. This is an effort that all councils try to run in an effort to promote the real meaning of this holy season. He said not to be disappointed in the bottom line, but be proud of the effort.

2-He states that some Councils have worked collectively together to put up roadside bill boards along major roads.

3-Although recruitment is important to a Councils growth, the most important object is service to our community. That is ultimately, what drives recruitment.

4-In keeping with the recruitment effort he presented to Mo Fennimore an award for his recruitment efforts, along with Roy Staszak, and Phil Grow.

5-From State Council, the Columbia Award and the Founders Award were presented to Roy Staszak and Ted Mirenda.

6-More information will be coming concerning the formation of what is known as the “McGivney House”, a prolife effort starting in Chicago. More information will be coming.

7-World Meeting of Families still looking for volunteers for transporting Bishops and others to the meeting, along with Supreme Council meeting.

LECTURER REPORT: Mike Altschuler

1-In regards to the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Mike told the story of the miraculous birth of Blessed Mary.
