Sainsbury’s Welsh Community Fund Programme – Guidelines and T&C’s

1. Sainsbury’s Welsh Community Fund Guidelines

What is Sainsbury’s Welsh Community Fund?

The Welsh Community Fund is a new Sainsbury’s programme specifically for Welsh projects. Grants of up to £500 will be awarded annually to charities andlocal community groups for a range of projects and activities which fit our core values of food, family, kids and health. In this round we have £53,792.33 to award .

Organisations can be any size as long as they support the community in Wales. Any money that is not awarded by the end of the year will be donated to our Welsh stores' local charity partners.

The first round of our new programme is now open and closes on 28th February. We hope that hundreds of local groups will take the time to submit an application. Please read through our guidelines for applying below.

Why is Sainsbury’s doing this?

Sainsbury’s is committed to being the UK’s greenest grocer. As part of our plan to achieve this we no longer provide customers in our supermarkets in Wales with free single use bags which would be subject to a carrier bag levy. We choose instead to focus on the promotion of bags for life in supermarkets, which are made of 100% recycled content and are 100% recyclable. This encourages our customers to re-use bags.

As part of our commitment to make a positive difference to our community, the net proceeds from the carrier bag levy will be added to our Welsh Community Fund.
