The Little Orange Book
This is a booklet available online at which gives parents expert advice on helping babies and young children when they’re poorly. It was produced by Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group with help from various people across the medical profession. This is very useful to school as it helps advise parents on whether children need to refrain from Nursery or School based on their illness and also to help in deciding whether we need to send a poorly child home. It has lots of useful tips for parents, what signs to look out for, usual length of illness, how to manage it and when to seek help.
Painting Challenge
Calling all budding artists! This February we are holding a new painting competition. The theme is ‘Animals’ and you can use any types of paint that you want. Paintings must be on A4 or A3 paper or card. Please make sure you put your and class on the back. Pick up your paints and brushes and get creative! Entries to Mrs Robson, closing date Monday 19th February.
Year 6
Thank you to the parents who attended the SATs information meeting and had the chance to complete a SATs paper with your child.
We hope that they impressed you with their reasoning and problem solving techniques.
Well done to all of ourparents - who all managed toreach 'expected standard'! A particular well done to these people who scored full marks: Darren, Alison, Lianne, Elizabeth, Marie, Mr Wicks, Sarah and Karen. The winner of the wine (drawn out of the hat) was Sarah Cotton - so please come to the office to claim your prize!
If you would like to come and complete a SPaG paper with your child (and have another look at their work in books), this will happen on Friday 9th March at 9.00am. We hope to see you there.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated unwanted character costumes. The costumes will be sold for £1 each - a total bargain. So get yourself here with your £1 coins. If you still have costumes to donate there is still time just hand them into school. World Book Day is Friday 2nd Marchfor Front Street.
Tuck Shop
On Friday 9th February FOFS will be holdinga specialtuck shop for childrenfrom reception up to Year 6. The tuck shop will run throughout the day and a suggested amount would be £1 or £2, the children need to bring this into school with them on Friday morning.
Volunteers
FOFS is a group of parents that help to raise money for amazing things for our children in school. Even if you can only spare an hour a month this could be so helpful. You may just be able to help at a film night, a disco or attend an odd meeting. This will help the group out so much, if you feel you could help please contact the school office or ensure you fill in a reply slip on an event form to express an interest.
Music
FOFS have already been spending in 2018. Front Street now has a brand new year group set of recorders (for use in Year 4) and a class set of tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments for KS1 and KS2. Withoutthis fundraising we would be unable to purchasethese items that really enhance our enriched curriculum.
Yours sincerely
