Safe Driving Using Mobile Phone
Do you know that using a mobile phone while driving can affect the cognitive functions of a person, distract his or her visual concentration and also the speed of processing information Are you feeling Scared after reading this? Well it has been also proved that use of cell phones while driving puts a driver at a significantly higher risk of collision by distracting his or her mind. It hardly matters whether the person makes use of hands free or hand-held phones, there’s no escape to it. This deadly combo has significantly increased the risk of accidents in large numbers.
The main aim of the project is to design a low cost mobile phone with driving mode feature. Whenever the engine ignited and vehicle engine in running mode then the car dashboard will send the information through the RF transmitter by using the microcontroller and this transmitted signals are received by the RF-receiver, then after this received signals are given to the mobile phone,this mobile phone will set in the driving mode.And then the system automatically manages the incoming phone calls. When the call is coming to the person, this system disconnects the call and sends SMS message to the caller as the user is under driving mode or under busy mode. This feature helps in avoiding the unnecessary calls (like customer care etc.), also avoids accidents when the user diverts from driving the vehicle. If the same caller will call thrice then the mobile will get ring.
The GSM modem provides the communication mechanism between the user and the microcontroller system by means of SMS messages. It is capable of receiving a set of command instructions in the form of Short message service and performs the necessary actions. We will be using a dedicated modem at the receiver module i.e. and send the commands using SMS service as per the required actions.
Car dashboard will decide the RF-transmitterwhich is used to control the operation. In this project we are using RF-transmitter to choose the mode in which the mobile phone should operate in thedriving mode.
In this project we are making use of GSM modem for communication purpose. We also use the LCD for display purpose. This LCD displays call related information. It also provides the facility to make and receive the calls using a numeric keypad.This project can be developed as a mobile phone with the help of GSM modem based keypad, graphical LCD. By this we can completely design our project for safe driving using mobile phone.
