FROM PASTOR: In today's first reading, Peter gives a powerful witness to the life, death and Resurrection of Jesus. In the second reading, Paul reminds us to keep our attention focused on the life that is to come so we will be ready for the Lord's return. In the Gospel, Mary of Magdala, Peter and the beloved disciple witness the empty tomb. We need to capture the awe and wonderment of those first believers who went to the tomb on that original Easter morning; those who saw and believed.

Ordination Anniversary. April 9th is Fr. Sixtus 34th anniversary to the Priesthood. May God Bless and guide you as you continue to serve Him.

Divine Mercy Sunday is April 15. Many graces will be given on this day to the souls who will go to Confession, receive Holy Communion, venerate His image, perform works of Mercy, and pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy during the 3:00 hour on this Day. “Jesus, I Trust in You.”
Divine Mercy Devotion next week in Caney @ 2:45pm
Operation Rice Bowl: Our celebration of the resurrection brings us new joy and hope! Throughout Lent, your support of ORB has helped offer hope to millions of people around the world who benefit from the work of CRS. You have made a difference is so many lives in the people that received your contribution. Thank you for your generosity / Gospel Reflection: Easter is the principal and greatest feast of the year with Christmas being celebrated only in preparation for Easter. The reality of the resurrection is the central fact of the Christian faith. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Lord gives us “eyes of faith” to know Him and the power of his resurrection. The greatest joy we can have is to encounter the living Lord and to know Him personally.
Poem from “The Sacred Mysteries of Redemption”
“Love is what made Him from Olympus descend;
Love made Him shoulder the sins of men;
Love has had Him already spill all his blood;
Love made Him suffer to be spitted upon;
Love attached these spines to his head;
Love made his Mother see Him hang from this wood;
Love fixed these rude nails in his hands;
Love will soon see Him laid out in the grave;
His love is so great, His love is so strong;
That He attacks hell, that He strikes down death;
My dear, for whom this hero dies loving you;
See if there has ever been so cruel a torment;
See if there has even been so perfect a lover.” Jean de Ceppede

Stewardship: Recognizing and Receiving God’s Gifts

“Through our baptism we join Jesus in dying to sin. Because of our baptism we rise to a new life, a member of the Body of Christ. Just as Christ commissioned the Apostles to preach the Gospel and the forgiveness of sins, He calls us, by our membership in the church, to continue to share our joy with those around us. May this Easter season enrich our faith so our lives will be a beacon to others.”

Word of Life

“Today the conditions for human flourishing in America, has eroded significantly in the face of powerful new cultural currents which are not only directly opposed to core moral teaching of the Judeo-Christian tradition, but increasingly hostile to Christianity as such.” Pope Benedict XVI
