Russound Appoints CI Industry Leader Tom McCarthy
Vice President of Product Development
McCarthy Brings Years of Experience in A/V Product Development
To Russound’s Expanding Line of Multiroom Entertainment Products
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands. January 31, 2011— Russound, the #1 brand in multiroom audio, today announced the appointment of audio and video industry leader Tom McCarthy to the newly created position of Vice Presidentof Product Development.
In his new role, McCarthy is responsible for both the long-term strategic vision and day-to-day management of all issues relating to product development. In particular, McCarthy will expand Russound’s product focus with a new generation of products that tap into current and upcoming audio/video streaming services.
“Tom is coming in at a crucial time to assist our team in expanding our strategy of leveragingour technology assets to fully embrace cloud-based content, integrate with third party subsystems, and ultimately offer home automation and lighting control products,” commented Charlie Porritt, CEO of Russound. “Tom is not only fluent in current developments in digital audio and video, but he has a keen sense of how these new trends can be adapted to simple solutions that benefit our installers and their customers.”

McCarthy comes to Russound from Niles Audio Corporation, where, as VP of Engineering and Product Development, he managed all aspects of the company’s technical and manufacturing activities. Prior to his role with Niles, McCarthy held positions with a variety of well-known audio manufacturers, including D&M Holdings (CTO and Advisor to the Chairman of the Board), and Bose, where he served as Director, Worldwide R&D Operations. Earlier roles included management positions with such technology leaders as Lockheed Martin and GE Aerospace.
Tom McCarthy received his BSEE from Lowell University (’81), MSEE from Syracuse University (’84), and Executive MBA from Boston University (’89). He currently resides in New Hampshire.
