Rules (Updated 2016 AGM)

  1. Teams who are not present at the Annual General Meeting shall be fined £5.
  1. Entry Fee of £60 must be paid prior to the commencement of the Annual General Meeting unless you have received prior permission from the Secretary.
  1. Entry Fee for all competitions shall be set by the TDL.
  1. The Playing Rules shall be those as laid out by the Imperial Domino Rules Of Play. Areas of dubiety or debate shall be decided upon by a ruling of the Officials.
  1. Each team must pay £3 for every home game they play.
  1. In the event a team drops out of the league in the first half of the season then the other teams in the league shall be awarded 4 points.
  1. In the event of a team dropping out of the league in the second half of the season then the results from the first half of the season shall stand with a forfeiture of the second half (each team shall receive 2 points).
  1. Any team who wishes to change a date of a fixture must give their opponents one weeks notice. At this point an agreement must be made between them and their opponents and the Secretary is to be informed.
  1. Each team can consist of 12 players if they wish (8 singles players and 4 doubles). The 12 players must be nominated before the game starts.
  1. Singles Games are played on a first to reach 7 chalks. Doubles are played on a first to reach 5 chalks basis.
  1. Teams must be nominated by no later than 8pm.
  1. Any team who drops out of the League is also disqualified from participating in any other TDL competition for the rest of the season.
  1. In the case of the Singles and Doubles each team shall run a tournament within their own venues and submit the names of the respective winners to the TDL for the finals. Copies of the Tournament Sheets must be handed in to the Secretary at the next meeting after the tournaments have taken place.
  2. All teams must have at least 4 good sets of Black & White Imperial Dominoes plus 4 boards for League Games. For competitions there must be 8 good sets of Black & White Imperial Dominoes and the same number of boards should be setup available for play.
  1. Two team captains and/or a League Official must inspect the packs of dominoes. If a marked pack is discovered during play then this pack must be withdrawn from use.
  1. Teams shall be fined for non-attendance of meetings. These fines are as follows:-

First Meeting – 5 PoundsConsecutive Meetings – 10 Pounds

  1. Team who do not attend meetings shall also be deducted 1 point for every non-attendance.
  1. All Trophies must be kept in the premises of the winning team. Premises are responsible for the safe keeping and cleaning of said trophies prior to returning to league. Officials shall decide on timescales for return.
  1. The Decision to allow barred individuals to enter premises to play league games shall be that of the Publican/Manager/Owner/Committee of said establishment. They shall use their discretion on whether to allow entry or not and their decision shall be final.
  1. No players shall be permitted to play for more than one team in any season. Any player doing so shall be barred from the league and the team which they played for illegally shall lose all points gained while the said player played for them illegally. Special dispensation can be given to players to move teams for extenuating circumstances.However, this must be raised at the Monthly Meeting BEFORE the player moves team.
  1. All Home Games to be played at the premises represented by team. Any change of venue to be passed by the TDL Officials. Players being barred from or in dispute with a venue is not considered as an acceptable reason for move/change of venue.
  1. In the event of any Play-Off to decide positions at the end of the season, one game of 7 Singles and 4 Doubles to be played to decide the Winner. Venue to be chosen by the Toss Of a Coin.
  1. Any Prize Money involved in any Play-Off shall be divided equally amongst the teams taking part and Play-Off is merely for decision of positions.
  1. Venues for TDL Tournaments shall be decided alphabetically. However, a decision shall be taken by the TDL Officials if the venue is suitable for the size of tournament.
  1. Entry to Ladies/Gents Singles and Mixed Doubles is to remain unlimited in number.
  1. One copy of a Game Sheet for each League Game must be produced with all names written clearly to the TDL at each monthly meeting.
  1. Failure to hand in ALL Game Sheets at Monthly Meetings shall result in a fine of 2 Pounds being imposed.
  1. All Tournaments to be held on a Tuesday evening. Competitions shall normally be held on the last Tuesday of the Month. However, this is flexible dependent on the needs of the TDL.
  1. New teams entering the league will pay a fee of £120 at the start of the season, half of which shall be refunded at the end of the season once they have fulfilled their fixtures.
  1. Any team who does not attend the initial league meeting and pay their entry fee shall be excluded from the league. Except in circumstances which are acceptable to the Committee.
  1. Any team who does not enter a competition shall not be permitted a venue.
  1. If teams do not turn up for a venue then this will incur a fine, this is for all league venues.
  1. All players must be registered by 7.45pm for any Competition.
  1. All players must be registered before you can play in any tournament. Any player that is not registered will lose game and a penalty against their team at the next meeting.
  1. In the Mixed Doubles you can only represent your own team. Under no circumstances can you “cross over” to another team to make up doubles.
  1. 9 Man Team games must have at least 5 players at venue. If only 8 turn up then the team would lose 1 game, if 7 2 games and so on. During the 9 Man Team games only 3 boards should be used at one time.
  1. All premises who have a venue must donate a bottle of spirits due to the size of the tournament. Bottle should be made available on the night of the tournament.
  1. Any team who does not turn up for a venue MUST still pay their fee’s.
  1. Larger Tournaments shall be split into more than one venue to allow for shorter tournaments with the Semi Finals & Finals played on a different evening in a different venue.
  1. The Captain’s Trophy shall be played for annually by each individual teams Captain or their delegate.
  1. Under normal circumstances the player who plays in the Captain’s Trophy must also play in the Captain & Vice Captain’s Trophy. However, should the player who plays in the Captain’s Trophy should be hospitalized or unable to play due to any other reason then the team must contact the League Secretary prior to the evening of the Captain/Vice Captain Tournament to confirm their intentions to play another player in their place.
  1. Teams who’s premises close permanently for any reason can choose to move and play in any venue within the district of the league. Permission should be sought however from the TDL Secretary.
