Rules of the Competition
All persons attend the event at their own risk. Weymouth and District
Riding Club, organisers and landowners accept no liability for accidents,
damage, injury, or loss to competitors, spectators or their animals and personal property whilst at this event or on the showground. Entries are accepted and admissions granted only on these conditions.
- Anyone seen riding without a hard hat is liable to an instant fine of £5.00.
- Hats that comply with British Standard Specifications BS EN 1384 with BRC Orange Tag, PAS 015, ASTM F1163 or SNELL E2001 must be worn at all times when mounted with the chinstrap fastened.
- Competitors are asked to wear correct dress for the discipline entered.
- No horse or pony under 4 years old may enter any class.
- The judge’s decision is final. Objections must be made within 15 minutes of the alleged offence and must be accompanied by a fee of £10.00, which will be refunded if the objection is upheld.
- Entry fees are not refundable except on production of a vet’s or doctor’s certificate. All fees are non-transferable.
- The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry.
- All owners and competitors have the responsibility to ensure that they and their horse are fit and at an appropriate standard to compete. Anyone deemed unfit or endangering others may be asked to leave.
- Anyone abusing/galloping their horse/pony will be asked to leave.
- No illegal assistance by spectators.
- The judge may disqualify any competitor for misuse of whips or spurs.
- Competitors who disobey any judge or official’s decision could be refused entry to any or all future WDRC events.
- WDRC reserves the right to cancel or amalgamate any classes if there are insufficient entries.
- In the case of adverse weather conditions, it is the competitor’s responsibility to seek confirmation as to the cancellation of any event.
- All young children must be kept under control at all times and must not be allowed to play amongst the horses.
- Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
- Riders age taken on the day of show (where applicable).
