Rules for ⅔ Showdown:

Each team will be competing to earn points in a series of 1 on 1 battles. Using the level 2 and level 3 questions provided by students, the instructor will ask groups to answer these questions and to support their answers with textual evidence. The first team to hit me with a teddy bear wins the right to answer first.

Correct answers receive a point. Incorrect answers receive no points and allow for opposing team to steal. Using the rubric below and indicating different elements via cue card, the class audience will determine if an answer is correct.

Green Card = Correct

Correct answers are those that contain interpretations of depth with relevant and detailed textual support.

Orange Card = Incorrect - Lacking detailed textual support

This card is reserved for responses that do not pull sufficient (multiple instances) of textual evidence for support or that do not adequately explain the connection of evidence to claim.

Yellow Card = Incorrect - Lacking Depth

This card is reserved for responses that hover in the literal or shallow figurative realm or that do not merit inquiry or meaning sufficiently fascinating in or universally applicable to the general body of literary academia.

Red Card = Incorrect - Lacking Relevancy

This card is reserved for responses that make use of textual support that does not have a clear connection to claims. These responses “miss the point.”
