Club vision
Below are the club visions the different groups came up with

  3. We want an inclusive family club, whose main aim is to provide rugby for all ages, ability within our community.

People
Key strengths:
  • Senior Level – Player Retention
  • Coaching Link to professional club
  • Senior – Young playing membership
  • Very hard working volunteers
  • Good strong social membership
  • Qualified physio for all members
  • Senior Player Inclusion – Social events, players code of conducts
  • Player integration from junior to senior level (Mentoring)
  • Good committed committee
  • Family orientated
/ Key weaknesses:
  • Shortage of junior coaches/volunteers
  • Lack of referees / Development
  • No Club Volunteer coordinator or community liaison
  • Junior player retention at teenage level
  • Senior players volunteering time and skills to juniors
  • Lack of succession planning
  • Attracting student members

Member services
Key strengths:
  • Coaching available to all
  • Run 2/3 senior sides and 5 junior sides
  • Run Some Good key events throughout the year BUT*
  • Good support from outside hiring of club facilities BUT**
  • Refurbished facilities and changing spaces good BUT***
/ Key weaknesses:
  • Quality of food and drink available
  • No real volunteer recognition of work that is carried out
  • *not coordinated enough across the club – across all committees
  • ** Could convert these guest to members
  • *** Players need to be more involved in up keep
  • Too small a kitchen

Member welfare
Key strengths:
  • Welcome pack in place
  • Physio availability at 1st and 2nd team
  • 1st team squad kit available
/ Key weaknesses
  • Improve first aid process and communicate this.
  • Not enough first aiders at junior level
  • Need to bench mark subs/registration with other clubs – Are we providing value for money

Community links
Key strengths:
  • Family Involvement
  • Good up to date club
  • Availability of facilities
  • Function room open for hire
  • Talking with local schools to have a “Rugby Week” (Getting funding to make it free)
  • Good Neighbours
  • Central Yorkshire links at 17’s and 18’s
/ Key weaknesses:
  • Lack of female changing rooms
  • Lack of disabled toilet
  • Contact names and numbers for local schools, council and other relevant agencies
  • People that ‘DO’ things
  • Poor links with local schools

Club management
Key strengths:
  • Facilities
  • Cub House – Well maintained
  • Changing rooms BUT*
  • Pitch/ Ground Excellent
  • Committee members dedication
  • Self Sufficient in finance – hand to mouth but would like financial cushion
  • Seal of approval – working towards showing people how good our facilities are
  • Website
/ Key weaknesses:
  • Sponsorship – require a person who can give time and commitment.
  • * Changing rooms in need of some TLC
  • Communication with wider membership – need a bigger profile in our community
  • Volunteers for maintenance
  • Normal standard – more rugby volunteers
  • New succession of committee members
  • Facility security
  • Lack of training playing facilities

Moving the club forward: top priorities
  • Achieve RFU Seal of Approval

  • Look at coordination of social event to get greater success

  • Maintain successful transition from junior and seniors rugby through mentoring

  • Develop stronger links with local schools – target junior ages and retention within teen ages.
  • Target 3 primary schools and 1 high school

  • Maintain clubs presence within the community as a local venue available for hire

  • Look at volunteer recognition event

  • Look into how to improve the first aid provision

  • Look at how can develop sponsor relationships

  • Develop a strategy for succession planning and getting the next volunteers in place
