NB To maximise opportunities for band members to gain competition experience, pipe majors and pipe sergeants may play in any quartet entered by the respective bands provided that they play together in one quartet only. If a band wishes to enter an additional quartet but does not have sufficient pipers who have not played previously, that quartet may comprise pipers who have played previously. Such quartet will not be placed in the contest but will receive a critique sheet.
