ROYAL HIGHLAND SHOW - 21st June – 24th June 2007.

Judge: - Mr Colin Scott, Boghall Farm, Dalswinton, Auldgirth, Dumfries.

With Galloway entries down on previous years and the forecast of wet weather, it was not going to be a vintage year for the Galloway Breed and our exhibitors. But as usual not everything is as it seems, the weather was dry and sunny for the Galloway judging on Thursday afternoon and the standard of Galloways was one on the highest seen for some time and much talked about not only by the Galloway faithfuls, but stalwarts of other breeds. This was confirmed when the Galloway interbreed team of Blackcraig Kodiac exhibited by Willie MacLean, Beauty 312 of Romesbeoch, Doon of Urr Nerys 42nd both exhibited by Jim & Selina Ross and Finmac Libby N195 exhibited by Finlays and MacLeans were place 5th in the prestigious cattle interbreed championship.

The Finlay Family, Blackcraig, Corsock, Castle Douglas and the McLean Family Inverglen, Barcladine by Oban, Argyll had a great day ensuring they were all involved in the top prizes. The Families joined forces to import embryos from Australia and Finmac Libby was one of the results. Securing the female champion and the overall champion this November born Globex Quota 39Q daughter is no stranger to the show ring winning the junior championship at the 2006 National Show.

The male champion Blackcraig Kodiac was exhibited by Willie MacLean, who made a welcome and successful visit to the Highland Show after an absents of seventeen years. This bull has a very famous pedigree being a Glenkiln Dynamite son and out of the well known Bertha family.
