ROWVA JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1)This show is open to all 4-H or FFA members, who are 8 years of age as of September 1, 2016, and must not have reached
their 19th birthday as of September 1, 2016, who are currently enrolled in a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter in Knox County or
attend a school in Knox County or live in Knox County, and exhibit an entry from a project they have recorded with a 4-H
Club leader or FFA advisor. FFA members must have been enrolled in Agriculture Education during the current year.
2)Exhibitors must show their own animals. No exceptions, unless the exhibitor has two animals in the same weight class, then
another Jr. exhibitor may show the animal. Only the exhibitor will be permitted in the show ring. All exhibits must be the
property of the exhibitor and be part of a 4-H or FFA project program for 2016. See exhibit classes for rules concerning
entries per exhibitor. No breeder tags in ears allowed in show ring.
3)Any protest concerning the livestock show or animals exhibited must be in writing, signed and presented to the superintendent
in charge or the chairman of the show before the show ends. Weight protests must be made at the time of weighing.
4)Scales for sheep and swine open at 6:30 AM. All livestock must be in place by 8:00 AM. Please arrive early. Judging will
start at 8:30 AM for Goats, Poultry and Rabbits. Judging will start for Sheep at 9:00 AM or as soon thereafter as possible.
Swine judging will start 20 minutes following the conclusion of the sheep show and the Beef show will start 20 minutes
following the conclusion of the swine show. The decisions of the judges will be final.
5)Pens and stalls will be provided for goats, sheep and swine. Wood chips will be the only bedding allowed. No bedding will be
furnished. No cattle tie gates provided, all cattle must be tied to trailers or may use the county barn. No washing facilities will
be available.
6)All animals will be subject to State Health Regulations and Premises Identification Number. Health papers will be checked
prior to unloading. Please consult 4-H Leaders or FFA advisors for regulations. All swine must be ear notched.
7)USE ENTRY BLANK ATTACHED. No Entry Fee will be charged. Awards will be handed out at the time of the show.
8)Upon the decision of the Livestock committee, unmanageable or unsafe animals may be asked to leave grounds. Not
responsible for accidents or injury to animals, should any occur.
PREMIUM LIST
Class A – Beef
Steers and heifers must have been born after January 1, 2016. Registration papers must be presented to Beef Supt. for registered heifers (please fill in date born on Entry Blank). Registered heifers will be shown by age. All other breeds and crossbred heifers, and steers will be weighed on portable scales on the grounds. Division will made by weight, putting an equal number (as near as possible) in each weight class. An exhibitor may show a maximum of 4 head, one of the total must be a steer or heifer. For classes listed, there must be at least 4 head to offer class. Exotic heifers must be 7/8 or higher. Any protests must be made at the time of weighing.

Class B – Goats
Wethers and Does must have been born after September 1, 2016. You may show crossbred or purebred, not both. An exhibitor may show only one breed of goats. An exhibitor may show or bring a maximum of four (4) head: two (2) does and (2) wethers. All breeding animals, except crossbred, must be purebred. Wethers will be weighed on portable scales on the grounds, putting an equal number (as near as possible) in each weight class. For classes listed there must be at least two (2) head to offer the class.

Class C - Poultry
Poultry must be hatched in 2017. There will be a limit of one entry in each of the classes. Exhibitors will provide their own cages and equipment. Animals shown in individual classes can be shown in the pen classes. Birds not in show condition will be excused from exhibition and removed from the premises.

Exhibitors will be a limited to one entry in each class. Exhibitors will provide their own cages and equipment. Animals shown in individual classes can be shown in the pen classes. Animals that are apparently sick or have sores on them will not be shown.

Class E - Sheep
Lambs shown must have been lambed after September 1, 2016. You may show crossbred or purebred, not both. An exhibitor may show only one breed of sheep. An exhibitor may show or bring a maximum of four (4) head: two (2) ewes and (2) wethers. All breeding animals, except crossbred, must be purebred. Wethers should be sheared and will be weighed on portable scales on the grounds, putting an equal number (as near as possible) in each weight class. For classes listed there must be at least two (2) head to offer the class.

Class F - Swine
All barrows and gilts exhibited must have been farrowed on or after January 1, 2017. All barrows and gilts will be weighed on the portable scales on the grounds. The division will be made by weight, putting an equal number (as near as possible) in each weight class. All breeds will show together. An exhibitor may show up to three head, where one of each sex must be included in the three: (2) single gilts and (1) single barrow, or (2) single barrows and (1) single gilt.
