TAB POLICY

  1. Late Arrivals
  2. Teams that arrive later than 15 minutes after Round 1 pairings are read may be automatically dropped from Round 1, receive 0 speaker points, and receive a combined rank of 7. Teams showing up to rounds later than Round 1 may be permitted to debate at the discretion of the Tab Director and Tournament Director.
  1. Scratches
  2. Each individual team may scratch up to 2 (two) judges. Any additional scratches must be justified to the Tab Observer.

  1. Rounds 2, 3, 4, and 5 shall be tabulated as follows, in greatest to least priority:
  2. Teams shall hit teams of the same record
  3. No team shall hit the same team twice

  6. someone from their own school
  7. someone who has been officially scratched
  8. Teams shall not hit teams from their own school, unless a school occupies more than half of a bracket
  9. Teams shall be paired high-low within each bracket according to the priorities in Section III

  1. Speaker Scores:
  2. An average varsity speech should receive a 25.
  3. Half-points and quarter-points are allowed.
  4. Tie-point wins are also allowed.
  5. Low-point wins are NOT allowed.
  6. Speaker scores 23.25 and under, as well as speaker scores 27 and over, must be justified to the Tab Director. The justification must not reveal the name(s) of the debater(s).
  1. Panels
  2. Inround panels shall deliberate, and submit a single consensus or majority decision.
  3. Outround panels shall deliberate, and vote independently.
  1. Disputes
  2. The Tab Director and Tab Team shall have absolute determination concerning resolutions of disputes regarding Tab Policy.
