Rotary Happy Hour

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Quinte Sunrise

Happy Hour for September 14, 2012

Mother Nature didn’t cooperate as Happy Hour evening was negatively impacted by a storm of biblical proportions. The meeting was held in the lounge of the Pro Shop at the Bay of Quinte Golf Club as the clubhouse was jammed with the participants of the annual Loyalist College Foundation golf tournament. Pres Elect Marc Ray of the Quinte Sunrise Club directed those that did attend to the lounge. Pres Steve welcomed the small but hardy group in attendance and called the meeting to order after an hour of Fellowship.

Past District Governor Bob Wallace was clearly not pleased with the weather.

Other News and Events

Pres. Steve introduced PDG Bob and Cathy Wallace who showed a presentation of their trip to Northern India where they participated in a program to vaccinate children against Polio. Bob explained that much has been done in India to help eradicate Polio but thousands on the sub-continent have suffered greatly from this crippling disease. Rotary Funds also provide Wellness Clinics and Donor Banks to help manage health care beyond the well publicized Polio initiatives. Most immunization efforts focus on children under 5 years of age and it takes several inoculations to properly immunize each youngster.

Bob and Cathy’s vivid presentation revealed how government assistance is the key to help deal with the enormity of the problem.

Next Happy Hour

Join us at the October Happy Hour at the Bay of Quinte Golf and Country Club on Oct. 12 at 5:00 pm. Don’t forget you can stay after the meeting for the finest fish and chips in the region.
