UPPER ARLINGTON ROTARY

“ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR” AWARD

PREFACE:

The Upper Arlington Rotary Club has, for many years, recognized extraordinary service to the Club by a Club member through the “Rotarian of the Year” Award. The Upper Arlington Rotary Club has set forth the following candidate criteria and procedure for recognizing individuals within the Club who have gone “above and beyond the call of duty” in providing service to the Club.

RECOMMENDED CRITERIA FOR CANDIDATES:

1. The Candidate shall be a member in good standing of the Upper Arlington Rotary Club.

2. The recipient shall be a UA Rotarian who has provided outstanding service to the Club.

3. The award may recognize service by a Rotarian within a particular year or over the term of that Rotarian’s membership in, and service to, the Club.

4. There shall be no limit on the number of Rotarian of the Year Awards given in any year, and there shall be no requirement that an Award be given each year.

PROCEDURE FOR SUBMITTING CANDIDATES FOR A ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD:

1. A UA Rotary club member acting as the Nominee of the Candidate shall complete the nomination form and submit to the Community Service Committee.

2. The Sponsor shall submit letters of support for the Candidate from three UA Rotary Club members to the Community Service Committee.

3. The Community Service Committee shall review the nomination form and letters of recommendation and discuss the Candidate’s qualifications at a regularly scheduled monthly meeting.

4. No later than 65 days following the Community Service Committee’s review the of the Candidate’s nomination form and letters of support, the Community Service Committee, at a regularly scheduled monthly meeting shall vote yea or nay, with majority passage, on whether to recommend the Candidate to the UA Rotary Board of Directors for a Rotarian of the Year Award.

5. With recommendation from the Community Service Committee, the UA Rotary Board of Directors shall consider the Candidate’s qualifications at a regularly scheduled board meeting and shall vote yea or nay, with majority passage, within 65 days of the Community Service Committee’s recommendation on whether to approve the Candidate for a Rotarian of the Year Award.

6. With the approval of the UA Rotary Board of Directors, the Candidate will be recognized at a regularly scheduled club meeting with the presentation of a Rotarian of the Year Award.

7. The Recipient’s name shall be posted to the UA Rotary website and listed in future printings of the UA Rotary directory as a Rotarian of the Year Award Recipient.
