Transportation Academy Scholarship

Ross Transportation Services, Inc. (RTS) of Grafton, being an active and involved participant in the commercial transportation industry wishes to help advance the professional development of the industry. At the same time, RTS management has found that there is a shortage of qualified diesel technicians available to meet the needs of the industry.

To help address these issues, the Ross Foundation, Inc. has established a scholarship for students graduating from the Lorain County JVS Transportation Academy who areplanning to continue their education at an accredited institution of higher education. The scholarship is named: “The Ross Transportation Services, Inc. Transportation Academy Scholarship.”

Following are the policies and procedures for the scholarship:

  1. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to one graduate of the LC JVS Transportation Academy who is continuing his/her education in a transportation field at an accredited college, technical or trade school.
  2. This is a one-year, nonrenewable scholarship.
  3. Applicants with a real desire to advance themselves in the field will be selected based upon both academics and financial need.
  4. Scholarship money will be paid by the Ross Foundation, Inc. directly to the college, technical or trade school upon proof of the recipient’s enrollment. The funds may be used for tuition, fees, books, tools, housing and supplies.
  5. If the student does not enroll within one year of graduation from the LCJVS, the scholarship will be forfeited.
  6. Each applicant must submit the following in a single packet toMs. West in theStudent Services Office no later than the first JVS school day in the month of April.

  9. Letter of acceptance from the post-secondary institution.
  10. Each applicant will also request two letters of recommendation. At least one of the letters MUST be from his/her LCJVS vocational instructor. The letters of recommendation can be attached to you application packet.
  11. The application packets will then be provided to the members of the Board of Directors of the Ross Foundation, Inc. They will make the selection of the scholarship recipient. They will evaluate the applicants on the following criterion:

  15. The Board of Directors of the Ross Foundation will notify the LCJVS of their selection prior to the JVS’ annual Senior Recognition Ceremony. A representative of the Foundation Board will participate in presenting the scholarship at the JVS annual senior recognition ceremony.
  16. The Administrator of the Ross Foundation, Inc. will coordinate the scholarship process with the representative of the LCJVS and the Board of Directors of the Foundation.

I hereby give my consent to release my high school transcripts to the Board of Directors of the Ross Foundation, Inc. I also understand that all of the letters of recommendation sent to that committee on my behalf, will be confidential and I waive my right to read those letters.

I acknowledge that all materials submitted in this application become the property of the Ross Transportation Services, Inc. and will not be returned to me.

I understand that my failure to return this signed and dated form by its due date will cause me to forfeit any further consideration for the Ross Transportation Services, Inc. Transportation Academy Scholarship.
