ROO SCHOLARSHIP REPORT

Texas Student Housing Scholarship: Scholarships are limited to students who will be attending college in Austin, College Station, or Denton, Texas. Scholarships are awarded for the full or partial cost of an OFF-CAMPUS room for one year and may be renewed. Scholarships are in the amount of $2,500 to assist students with the cost of housing. Good academic and leadership standards are required. Applications are available in the Student Services Center and the deadline to apply is January 31, 2016.
EECU Glenn Mandeville Memorial Scholarship: Applications are available in the Student Services Center for the EECU Glenn Mandeville Memorial Scholarship. Six $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors. Three scholarships will be for students intending to enter the field of education and three scholarships will be given to students who are selecting careers outside the education field. The applicant or their parents must be a member of EECU. Applicants may be required to participate in a personal interview. Students will need to fill out an application and enclose a copy of their transcript with their STAAR, ACT, and SAT scores. Students will also need to enclose a letter of recommendation from a teacher, letter of recommendation from a counselor, and write an essay on “Why I Want to Attend College”. The application deadline is January 31, 2016.
Texas Engineering Foundation Scholarship: Students who plan to enroll in an accredited Engineering program in Texas are eligible to apply for the Texas Engineering Foundation Scholarship. Students must graduate with a 3.0 or higher GPA, score at least 600 in math, 550 in critical reading, and 500 in writing on the SAT, or have a 29 in math and 25 in English on the ACT. Applicants will need to include two letters of recommendation and an official transcript with their completed application. Scholarship awards are based on academic record, achievement, leadership, and career goals. The application deadline is January 8, 2016 and applications are available in the Student Services Center.
Fort Worth Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship: The Fort Worth Scottish Rite Foundation awards $1,500 scholarships each year to students throughout a thirty-five county area. Students will need to fill out an application and enclose a transcript. Students will also need to submit a copy of their SAT/ACT scores, two personal letters of reference, and two academic letters of reference. Scholarships are awarded based on scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, and dedication to helping others. Applications are available in the Student Services Center. The deadline is March 1, 2016.
Mahindra Texas Pride Scholarship: This scholarship is designated for outstanding students who have participated in Career and Technology programs. Twenty-seven $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students based on academic achievement, leadership, and success in completing at least three credits in two or more CTE courses. Also, students must be enrolled in a CTE this fall or spring. Students will need to complete the online application at www.ctat.org/awards. Students will also need to submit two letters of recommendation, an essay, a transcript, and fill out an Activities & Courses form. The scholarship deadline is March 31, 2016.
Sons of the Republic of Texas Scholarship Program. This scholarship awards grants of $4,000, $3,000, and $2,000 to graduating seniors with the best essay on “The Battle of San Jacinto and Texas Independence”. The purpose of the essay contest is to encourage students to explore the pioneer spirit of Texas. The entry deadline is January 31, 2016. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship: This $10,000 renewable scholarship is for twenty college-bound students who demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Students need at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale to apply for the scholarship and must demonstrate financial need. Interested students will need to complete an application online at www.reaganfoundation.org by January 7, 2016.
Entrepreneur Scholarship: If you have an established business and an entrepreneurial spirit, you may be eligible for scholarships ranging from $2,000 - $25,000. Scholarships are based on ACT/SAT scores, class rank, and GPA. Additional information is available at www.NFIB.com/YEA. Applications are accepted between October 1, 2015 and December 18, 2015.
Anne Ford Scholarship: The National Center for Learning Disabilities will award a $10,000 scholarship to a student who has a documented Learning Disability and is planning to obtain a Bachelor’s degree. Students need to have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, demonstrate financial need, and show that they have participated in school and community activities. The deadline to apply is December 15, 2015 and applications are available in the Student Services Center.
Ronald McDonald House Charities U.S. Scholarship Program: Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to applicants who show financial need, community involvement, essay content, and academic achievements. The deadline for the application is January 20, 2016. Go to www.rmhc.org to apply online.
Gates Millennium Scholarship: The Gates Millennium Scholars Program is funded by Bill Gates and provides scholarships for African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students. Applications are available online and the deadline to apply is January 13, 2016. One thousand scholarships will be awarded covering the cost of unmet needs for students who qualify for the PELL Grant. The minimum GPA for consideration of the scholarship is 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. In addition to the application, students must enclose an educator’s evaluation, and an evaluation of the student’s community service and leadership activities.
