3. REVIEW OF 2011 SEASON

Ollie stated that the 2011 season had been generally successful for the youth section with continued improvement from previous seasons.

U9s – Won games in each of the festivals at Old Hill, Pedmore, Halesowen and Romsley. Qualified for the finals in Group D against Himley A & B and Amblecote and continued the success from last season by winning the tournament.

U10s – A very good season with good individual performances. Completed the double over Himley, Old Hill and qualified for the finals which will be held next April

U11s – Struggled for players particularly at the 11 a side games. Lewis Brough represented the District team.

U12s – A disappointing season in which they failed to win a game mainly due to a lack of players at the age group so a number of younger players had to make up the numbers.

U16s – A good season with the majority of players breaking into senior cricket. Zahid Kafiat played regularly for the first team and emerged as player of the season including winning numerous trophies at the presentation evening.

It is intended to advertise for new junior players after Christmas in time for the winter net sessions.

A meeting will be held at the beginning of next season for players and parents to explain how the youth section will operate and a chance to meet managers and coaches.

Dave Bissell emphasised that all players should be aware of the code of ethics expected from them when representing Romsley. Ollie stated that this is included in the welcome pack under the code of conducts which all parents are required to sign.

8. PITCH HERO WEB SITE

Ollie gave a visual demonstration of the Pitch Hero Web Site. Although in it’s early stages, information about teams, managers etc. are available. It is intended to give as much information about the Romsley Youth organisation as possible with photographs of teams, reports, and results to be included. Everyone present felt this was an excellent idea in promoting the Romsley Junior Cricket Section.

9. FUNDRAISING AND SOCIAL EVENTS

Dave Bissell suggested an A5 booklet be produced with approximately 12 adverts from local businesses. Each advert will cost £50 and hopefully will raise £600. It is intended to print around 150 copies of the booklet and these will be handed out at all junior home fixtures. Dave and Sean will pursue this idea in the New Year.

The sponsor’s day will take place again in 2012 with teams from CDC, Lloyds, Yelts Trust and Romsley entering. Last year £300 was raised for the club.

It was suggested a family day be arranged next season with a barbeque, bouncy castle and lads versus parents game be played.

Other fund raising ideas suggested were, a bag packing event at Asda in Merry Hill, a 100 club draw, sponsored bike ride and race night.

It was also suggested social events be organised such as a skittles night, go carting, Christmas Dinner, curry night, cricket game at Worcester and the presentation evening.

10. WINTER NETS

Indoor winter net sessions have been arranged at Red Hill School in Stourbridge. These will start on Saturday the 5th November at 10am and will last for 6 weeks. Costs for the indoor net sessions will be £4 each week or £20 for all 6 sessions.
