Earnest Performance Project
1) Choose an appropriate scene - About a page per person in the group. Consult Mr. Fox to it approved by Mr. Fox- we’ll want to avoid duplicating scenes too much.
2) Each person will write four paragraphs about their character:
a) why you chose this selection
b) context of the scene (what happens before/after)
c) what is one value Wilde satirizes in the scene
(refer to at least two specific lines)
d) what is so funny in it? (refer to several specific lines)
For the class and using only note cards, each member will first summarize your four paragraphs as an introduction. Then, your group will act out the memorized selection or, using only note cards, the longer selection. Include props and costumes as well!
After a brief introduction to the scene, your group will perform your scene. Make us laugh! Don’t be boring! Include props and costumes as well! Gay it up! Display signs of triviality!
If you want an ‘A’, use an online version of the play and have your scene affixed to index cards. Otherwise, just use the books.
