Role Title:Senior Research Assistant in Sleep Research

Grade:5

Category: Research Associate

Job Purpose: The post-holder will be based in the Psychology Department of Northumbria University. He or she will be involved in a work program examining the relationship between sleep health and physical, psychological and economic well-being. The work will involve identifying relevant datasets from ‘big data’, analysing those datasets with specific research questions in mind and disseminating the findings through writing the findings for peer review. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with a number of organizational partners.

Responsible to:Professor Jason Ellis

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Formulate research questions relating to sleep and health-related outcomes
  2. Identify, where possible, existing relevant datasets from which to examine sleep and health-related outcomes
  3. Analyse existing datasets
  4. Engage with a network of collaborators
  5. Develop and run a research programme
  6. Publish journal articles and produce other research outputs in high quality outlets and conferences.
  7. Contribute to building a strong research and enterprise culture.

Location:

This post is based at the University’s City Campus, it may also involve work from and / or travel to other University premises and external organisations as required.

Start Date:

19th September or as soon as possible thereafter

Attendance Requirements:

37 hours per week. Core Monday – Friday, 9:00-17:00 with some flexibility to accommodate out of normal hours working.

Flexible working arrangements, including part time working or job share would be considered.
