Position Summary

TAA is seeking to capitalise and effectively leverage of this one in 100 year event. The organisation is seeking an experienced PR & Stakeholder Engagement Manager to support the Public Relations and Stakeholder Engagement component of this project and is keen to work with an enthusiastic person who can add value its 100th Anniversary celebrations.

Key Result Areas:

Ø  Promotional and PR activities

o  Develop and execute a 100 year Anniversary Promotional and Media plan to leverage opportunities during TAA 100 year anniversary celebrations in 2016 in keeping with the TAA brand

o  Identify appropriate media opportunities which draw attention to the organisation’s historical and current work

o  Manage media campaign and contact with media outlets

o  Help create events / publicity stunt to get coverage / interest in anniversary

o  In all activities promote TAA and its work to a broader audience than its current client and supporter base

Ø  Social media

o  Utilise social media channels to expand TAA’s reach to new supporters and our fundraising activities

Ø  Stakeholder (current & new) engagement

o  Assist TAA’s staff in identifying and engaging with new corporate supporters as part of the 100th celebrations activities (potentially look at opportunities for support in kind or sponsorship)

o  Identify strategies and engage with current stakeholders to further leverage support

Ø  Plan and organise events

o  Contribute to the development of the travelling exhibition and promotion of the official launch of the TAA 100 year anniversary at Government House

o  Engage with new and current stakeholder to build attendees at the Exhibition Launch/Wrap up Corporate event

o  Identify possible event/s at Flinders Street Station and/or Southern Cross Station that would draw both media and general public attention to the work of TAA and the 100th Anniversary

Ø  Project Management

o  Project Management of overall 100th Anniversary activities

Breadth of the Position

The position requires the incumbent to support TAA’s strategic direction in four key areas:

Level of Supervision / Independence

The PR & Stakeholder Engagement Manager – 100th Anniversary is required to work independently with minimal supervision. The PR & Stakeholder Engagement Manager – 100th Anniversary works closely with the CEO, the Fundraising & Business Development Manage and the management team.

Problem Solving and Judgement

The PR & Stakeholder Engagement Manager – 100th Anniversary will exercise judgement to ensure that TAA’s 100th Anniversary celebrations gain appropriate, positive public recognition and stakeholder engagement. It is required that the PR & Stakeholder Engagement Manager – 100th Anniversary approaches problem solving from a perspective that is with regard to TAA’s short-, mid- and long-term sustainability.

Professional and Organisational Knowledge

The incumbent requires in-depth knowledge of Travellers Aid Australia’s policies and procedures, the not-for-profit environment, emergency relief, social policy and an advanced level of stakeholder management and Public Relations experience.

Resource Management

The incumbent will be expected to prioritise work and arrange work patterns to meet daily and weekly demands. Delegations of Authority extend to:

Essential Skills & Experience

·  A minimum of 5 years experience in Public Relations;

·  Demonstrated experience in corporate partnerships and business development;

·  Demonstrated capacity in developing and implementing media plans;

·  Excellent communication skills including relationship development and maintenance;

·  Demonstrated ability in managing and evaluating short and long term projects;

·  Demonstrated event management experience;

·  Ability to set priorities and delegate tasks, make decisions and be accountable;

Desirable Skills & Experience

·  Knowledge of Travellers Aid Australia;

·  Experience within a not-for-profit organisation, including working with volunteers;

·  Demonstrated experience in database management;

Special Requirements

·  A full unrestricted work permit / visa for Australia;

·  A Victorian Police Check and Working With Children Check is required;
