Salary: c. £17,067 - £18,555 per annum, points 12-15 on the harmonised scalefixed term until 31 July 2017

Department: Higher Education Team (ncn) and Higher Education (Central)

Accountable to:HE Business Manager(ncn) and Curriculum Manager HE (Central)

Primary Purpose: To design, develop and deliver a range ofaspiration, attainment and awareness-raising activities to be delivered to students, parents and staff in NEMCON partner schools, academies and colleges; to develop and build relationships with new and existing partner schools and colleges for mutual benefit; to work with colleagues across the institution to develop and deliver targetedwidening participation projects; to represent Central and ncn Colleges and the HE sector at HE fairs, careers fairs and other HE recruitment events. This role additionally involves a considerable amount of communication and relationship building activity with prospective students, tutors and professional services colleagues both within the Colleges and externally.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  1. To devise, develop and deliver projects/events/activities to motivate and inspire students to consider progression to higher education, particularly those from lower socio economic backgrounds. Tasks to include:
  • Planning and development of events
  • Organise marketing and promotion of events
  • Delivering presentations and hosting events
  • Liaise and negotiate with curriculum and professional services staffs
  • Oversee and negotiate the booking of students ambassadors to events
  • Evaluation of events
  1. To be the designated contact for a caseload of specific schools and colleges for Central and ncn Colleges. This includes:
  • developing an effective and productive relationship with these schools and colleges
  • planning/organising a series of activities that meet the needs of targeted cohorts within these schools and Colleges to raise aspirations and support attainment
  • being the primary point of contact for your schools and Colleges, answering all queries and providing guidance where necessary.
  1. To devise, develop and deliver a range of events and activities to inform, guide and support students through the process of choosing courses and applying to higher education
  1. To deliver and develop awareness raising presentations on higher education, higher education in Further Education Colleges, the UCAS process, finance, budgeting, student life and accommodation to a range of audiences (including teachers, parents and mature students)
  1. To deliver and develop aspiration and attainment raising workshops on a range of subject areas for example, communication, interview techniques, applying through UCAS, personal statements and study skills
  1. To deliver and develop continuing professional development opportunities for teachers and other practitioners
  1. To have account manager responsibility for specific schools and colleges
  1. To actively seek out and target new partners as agreed with both Colleges
  1. To represent the Colleges at events such as parents evenings, open days and HE fairs
  1. To liaise with other members of the teams to ensure a co-ordinated approach to engaging with NEMCON partner institutions
  1. To record quantitative and qualitative data on activities to an agreed format for monitoring and evaluation purposes
  1. To prepare reports and statistical returns
  1. To develop and assist with the collaborative delivery of activities involving other institutions and organisations
  1. To contribute to the wider activities of the Colleges remits as required
  1. Ensure an effective health, safety and welfare environment with particular attention to safeguarding and prevent agenda
