Role:Lecturer in Fashion (Pattern Cutter)

Salary: £23.3k - £35.3kper annum, pro rata where applicable

Accountable to:Faculty Area Manager Fashion and Visual Arts

Accountable for:Delivery of Fashion courses across a range of levels (including manual Pattern Cutter skills for woven and stretch).

To contribute towards the delivery of a high quality educational experience for all students, delivering services in a way that is sensitive and responsive and which displays the highest standards of customer care

Portfolio of responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver teaching sessions as required.
  • Be responsible for assessing, recording and reporting on student development and progress, including attendance at open/parents evenings as appropriate.
  • Undertake tutorial/pastoral and student support related duties.
  • Develop teaching and learning materials relevant to teaching duties and course team student groups.
  • Undertake initial guidance and advice interviews with potential students and contribute to the enrolment process.
  • Complete registration documentation and monitor student attendance and achievement taking appropriate action as required.
  • Contribute to and participate in quality assurance initiatives as appropriate.
  • Participate in classroom observation activities.
  • Review and evaluate lessons/courses within area of responsibility, with a view to continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the course and team planning review processes / action plan and attend regular team meetings.
  • Liaise with parents/carers/employers.
  • Be responsible for a group of students, their full programme of study and their induction programme.
  • Produce an assessment calendar and track students’ progress.
  • Undertake other academic activity related to the role.
  • Maintain records (teaching and student related) as required.
  • Have the ability to undertake course co-ordination, this specifically includes:
  • Ensuring that students are registered, exam entries complete and that results are collated and reported
  • Complete Health and Safety risk assessments for off-site trips
  • Work with employers and agencies to promote employer engagement on vocational courses, including work placementsand experience of work opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation
